it could be cracked but it could also be infected at the base of the root and you may need a root canal. First though, you should try the following: use a medium or soft toothbrush, brush gently with a toothpaste for sensitive teeth. Rinse your mouth with warm water and /or warm salt water throughout the day. See if that helps, if not then see a dentist and have them take an xray of the root of that tooth. If there is something that looks like a "pocket" at the base of the root then you have an infection.

Happy New Year Dear. I'm not a dentist but I have a few websites that may be able to answer your question that your asking. Mine or sensitive to heat and cold as well. I have to have mine surgically removed due to high blood pressure but. To tell you why you have these pain's could be a number of things I'm just going to name the one's I know that happens to me. Your gums could be infected and you need to go to your dentist soon so that they can give you some atibiotics for that infection because if you dont you could get gingivitis. Of the gums and they will start to bleed and then your really going to be in pain. The other is Your gums could be weekeing from some type of paste that your using or certain food your eating. try to eat your food's not so hot and not so cold and stay away from food with bones and hard things until you get them looked at so that you wont chip a took like I did Your best bet is to make an appointment and go in to see the dentist right away and he will tell you exactly what you need to do soon as possible. It will be worth it. Check out the website I searched for the pain on teeth for you there could be others though. I hope this helps

When a tooth has cracked it is sensitive to cold and hot. You need to let your dentist exam the teeth to see if you need some repair work done. Happy New Year to you!

It's very possible that you have a crack in your tooth. This causes it to become sensitive to heat and cold. Check with your dentist and he/she can find the problem. I had a crack in my tooth and they put a crown on it. It's fine now.
Happy New Year

those do-it-yourself teeth whitening systems can leave your teeth sensitive. Switch to a toothpaste called Sensodyne.
