Ever since I can remember I have been picking at any flaws in my skin until I would bleed etc. It has caused me to have many scars that I could have prevented. I usually dont know when im doing it.. its like im in a trance. Most of the time it will get worse when im stressed. I also have anxiety whitch makes it awful.

Does anyone else have this problem?
Is there any ways that have helped you stop picking?

it is a habbit known as OCD obsessive compulsive disorder. now they branched out that simple diagnosis to Dermatillomania or body dismorfic disorder, were you cannot stop touching your face and boy does it escilate. if you feel that it is becoming a problem phychotherapy and pill popping is not the answer. cognotive behavioral therapy. If i would have known this 13 years ago and known that there were others out ther like me. i could have saved my face. I found that the BDD workbook is helpful! I also found that glad press and seal is great for covering mirrors. if you pop your pimples it could get so infected on some occasions that it could spread to your heart through the blood. research dermatillomania. that is what it is called finally named rather insted of generally OCD.

i was generalized as ocd when it was just branched out (like math- well there is more to math than math. there's addition, multiplication.... so on and so forth

I pick my fingers sometimes till they bleed. I never had it called CSP, but its probably a mild form. I do it more when I'm stressed though. I've done it and not even realized what I did, till i was in pain washing my hands later on in the day.

No idea how to stop it, but try to reduce stress & anxiety in your life.. .ha - easier said than done, huh?

yes, sadly, I do. I was just picking tonight! Aside from throwing out every mirror in my house, I have never found a solution. I never had bad skin and now (at 24) it looks like I do. I do okay sometimes, I just have to keep myself busy and slap my hands away from my face, but, a few days later, I start all over again.

I do it with my lips and have for about 15 years (at least). I do it when I'm trying to distract myself from thoughts I don't wana have - almost like meditation i guess? also when I'm upset etc and I think it's almost a soothing thing.

The only way to stop is to want to - i don't think I want to stop - don't know why?!? But you need to replace the habit with another one, maybe a healthy one like reading or drawing or painting?
