Swimming is the most productive. A treadmill is good though, don't count on the built-in computers. I prefer actually going out and running year-round, but I'm a nature junkie. Running gets me out of the house.

If you're more of an indoor person, then yes. Altering your diet and getting on a regular exercise schedule would be best. Also, running or jogging does wonders for losing weight and toning up those legs.

I think the most effective way to lose weight is to reduce the calorie intake. It's hard to burn calories from working out.

I've had success with mine- mainly because it is at home, so no driving or waiting to get to it, and it's in front of my TV. Plus, I can take lots of breaks, and come back, it will still be there.

if you run on a threadmill on a low speed and stop when you are just starting to feel tired, of course it isn't productive. push yourself when you run. be cautious though, don't overdo it. always stretch after running. :)
