God rested, that doesn't mean He took the day off, more than likely He KNEW we were going to make a total mess of His word and work and decided to get to know some hearts personally...just in case He needed to rain on us and start all over again...God is good and He will not be mocked.

If you're referring to the Sabbath, God didn't need to take a day off, but He was setting up our work week. When He gave the Law, He told the Jews that they should work six days and rest one, as He did.

god finished creating the universe in 6 days so he rested from the work. He wants to be with us forever.

Who ever said He took the day off. The Bible only says that He rested. That doesn't mean that He went to sleep or did it the way we do rest. It could have meant that he stopped doing that PARTICULAR activity.

it could be symbolic of God giving up control to give the control over to humans. And then on the 7th day, humans are supposed to give it back to God.

how tired would you feel if you just created an infinate platform? then you went on to inhabit one of it's worlds with sophisticated and complex organisms? He wanted to rest. so what? its better than bragging and saying "i created everything and I did'nt even lose a breath about it"

S/He didn't need to but s/he had the good sense to rest which some of us humans have no clue about. Creation is good and so is rest.
