Protone6 is right in that some stores may have re-stocking fees. If you know exactly what you want try Websites of Beach Camera, B&H Photo, Adorama and Best Buy. Brands to look at would be Fugi, Nikon, Sony, Canon and Olympus. So many people ask for cheap on Yahoo!Answers, it's easier when people say I'm willing to spend up to this amount. Don't forget there's a memory card to buy which can range from $20 to $60 depending how much memory.

There is no such thing as good and cheap camera, I assume you need a basic point & shoot camera. I suggest you go down to any Electronic store, Fry's, Best Buy, Circuit City...to see which one fits your budget, you can't go wrong with these popular names, Fuji, Canon, Nikon, Sony, the stores always have something on sale during and after the holidays. I don't think you should buy camera online unless you have experience dealing with the purchasing process, especially when you don't know much about the return policy of some unknown merchant, it could be a nightmare.

Beware of prices that seem too good to be true.
Check pricing at www.bhphoto.com before buying. If the online retailers price for a new camera is not in the same ballpark, then better buy somewhere else.
Overstock.com is all right, as well as the big box retailers, but for unknown others, check resellerratings.com for their rating.
The good cameras are not cheap, but if you shop carefully you can save a little money.
Good luck!

Circuit City and Office Max have really good prices on their camera and they have also have knowledgeable personnel who can answer your questions and help you make a good decision about the camera you want t purchase. You can also get excellent deals on Ebay, but you need to know what you are wanting and always read the entire description because sometime they are just being sold as parts. Good luck...

i just got a Cannon Powershot A540 for $169.99 at circuit city. the website might still have them on sale. it's a really good camera, as long as you don't need a high MP. it's a 6mp camera. go on the website and check out all the cameras. there are reviews on all the cameras in stock, and even if you don't buy one from there, read the reviews. they help a lot. the pick a camera you like, and search the web for the different shops. beware of the shop reviews as well. some aren't as good as you think.
good luck!
