simethicone
is the active ingredient, the name of the chemical in tablets you can get off the shelf at any pharmacy. There are several brands and items that contain it, such as OVOL, etc... It works wonders !

Oh, and to prevent gas in the first place, there are some things you can do. There is a theory about food combinations. They say its best to eat a meal or snack which is predomnently one category of food, such as protein, or starch, but try not to mix both kinds 1/2 and 1/2. This theory says you should wait about 1 hour between big portions protein and big portions of starchy foods. And not to eat sweets before eating protein, and wait an hour after supper to have desert. Also, watch out for broccoli that starting to open its buds or is even slightly starting to turn yellow. Also, its good to have a little cheeze after a meal, or yogurt for desert, because the good bacteria in it help keep digestion happening properly. It works for me.

For light-duty gas, it helps to eat peppermint, mint candies, afterdinner mints / english mints, or something with licorice. (licorice flavour licorice, not the goofy strawberry or cherry candy)
When you eat bread, use bread with caraway seed in it, that helps prevent gas and prevents stomach infections too.

Oh, I almost forgot, Gas is one of the symptoms of lactose intolerance too. Now just because you have gas does not necessarily mean you have lactose intolerance, but if you have never determined whether or not you have it, it could be one of the possible reasons for having gas. Its something to consider, and check your results when you drink milk and when you abstain from it for several days. IF that is the cause of your gas, then the only thing you need would be lactaid type tablets before consuming dairy. If lactose is causing your gas, no other solution will cure it. PS - never ever take lactase enzyme (lactaid) tablets without dairy, if you do, it will hurt big time.

Use baking soda in water. The directions are on the box. If you have frequent gas problems then be sure you eat plenty of yogurt with live active cultures or take acidophillus capsules to keep your digestive flora healthy.

Beano? Don't hold it in if it really is a lot of gas. It'll stay in your body and give you crippling stomach pains. I think red meat also causes gas.

get in the doggy position and tilt your bottom into the air (arch your back). Then let your belly relax and hang. The gas will be free to escape. Good luck with that :z.

Just let it out. Take Alka Seltzer, but instead of disolving it in water, disolve it in a pepsi or a sierra mist. Hope it helps.
