Mysterious splinters, pulled out but skin is red and burns to touch.
I woke up this morning, and noticed that the skin in one spot of my leg was sore to the touch. When I pulled up the pajama leg, I saw what looked like 3 tiny splinters, which I pulled out and threw away, thinking that would be the end of it.

But the area was still sore to the touch. VERY SORE!! The warm bath water made it hurt even more!!

I tried using a cortisone ointment-- then I tried triple antibiotic ointment with a bandage, and both seemed to help, but it still has not gone away!

Twelve hours later, I can see three red spots and it is still very sore! I haven't been out in the woods, and we live in a state where there are no scorpions. It's winter time and there aren't even any sticker bushes nearby, the bugs outside are all dead & we don't have bugs in our house.

If it was a sting, then why would I not feel it right away? Why would I not notice it until I woke up in the morning... and then not until I touched the spot? This makes no sense.

Bed bugs? What is that? I thought they were just a myth.

Tell me more, "needtheinfo"..... I looked up Morgellon's and it sounds a lot worse than what I'm experiencing so far.... but at least you're not telling me I have bed bugs and have been stung without knowing it. If you want to send me a personal message, that would be nice as well, just go to my profile page. For now... it's nearly 1 AM and I'm going to try to go to sleep and pray that it will be gone by morning, with a bandage and antibiotic salve on it.

There wasn't any swelling, and the hair on my leg isn't that coarse, so I think we can eliminate that theory, albeit a good one.

Aliens abduction?? How would they do that without waking up my husband right next to me? Hmm.... I think if this is true I don't want to know it, lol.

This morning it's a little better after leaving on a bandage with antibiotic ointment all night. I think I'll keep treating it that way unless it gets worse.

But, I would have expected it to be gone by now, being just a SURFACE injury!

I didn't get any more info about Morgellon's disease, but since I don't have it any place else on my body, I think I'd rule that out.

My husband reminded me that I "almost" ran into an evergreen tree in our son's yard that evening when we walked out to our car after visiting there. Maybe I got splinters then, although I didn't feel them at the time? I'll update this, in case anybody is interested.

Bed bugs.... WOW.... I looked that up and found out people really do have those. I'd heard about that when I was a kid, but never really seen them, so I thought it was a myth. But if we had those, my husband would certainly notice and get bitten, too.
No I don't think these are bites, because there were actually tiny stickers in there.

Go and soak in a tub with Epsom Salts. They help relieve the irritation and cause foreign objects and infection in the skin to travel to the surface. If you don't want to soak your whole body then make an very warm Epsom Salt solution and saturate a towel and let that soak on your leg! Remember that anytime a foreign object gets under your skin your body sends defense mechanisms ( swelling, blistering, pus etc) to help try and get rid of it or infection. Of course it will be sore but soak it and then give it some time. If you see no result or it gets worse go see a doctor.

Could be a spider bite and the splinters you pulled out were hair follicles that were loose due to swelling.Keep an eye on it.

You have been stung. You may have stepped on a nest on the ground and they crawled up your pant legs. Even though they are dormant, if you disturb them, they will still sting, this goes for wasps, bee's, hornets, and bumble bee's.

Some alliens could have taken you to their planet, for some experiment. Many people discover strange inexplicable scars when they wake up, I even remember some internet site urging people who had such experience to write them.
