Yes the USA has a Christain or more important a spiritual heritage from the first settlers in Jamestown to the Pilgrims in Massachessettes.

Our founding fathers emphatically placed our fate into the hands of God. From the Decleration of Independce to our Constitution (foundation) the reference and humility to God is written repeatedly. However Christianity is not mentioned by name.

The majority of our founders were Masons. The Masons were a mystical group which called themselves "masons" or brick layers, like todays unions, in order to escape the persecution of the Catholic Inquisition. This took place during the Middle Ages. Anyway our founders were of this order. Most but not all were also practicing Christains. They understood the tyrany and oppresion of religions other then Christain that was practiced by the European monarchs. They understood tolerance. That is the principal upon which they envisioned. However they had no conception that in the future, humility to God would not be tolerated in our government.

Separation of Church and State is no where written into our Constitution, nor the attached Bill of Rights. This is a misconception. Separation of Church and State is a concept that evolved from a Supreme Court interpertation of our Constitution resulting in this decision of Separation.

I think this decision was rendered in the early 1950's but am not sure.

What I am trying to say is that our founding fathers were Christains with a belief in God but were tolerant of all.

We are a nation of, mostly, Christians, but we are not by any means a Christian nation. This is a huge, important distinction. Basically, what it comes down to is that, while most of our population follows, to some degree, a branch of Christianity, our nation as a whole puts no constraints on people about religion.

In fact, many of our founding fathers were Deists, which is as far from Christianity as you can get while still remaining an 18th century European who wasn't in danger of getting driven out of town.

Article 11 of the 1796 Treaty with Tripoli.

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Though it was a country founded largely by deists, the vast majority of the presidents were Christians, as were the original immigrants. Religious revivals appleanty also happened here, so I'd say yes, though I'd say it shouldn't matter because saying something happened in the past is usually just an excuse to get one's way.

1620 the Pilgrims came over from Europe to find religious freedom. They didn't want to be forced into the Church of England. With a few dopey exceptions we have been free to choose our religion here for the past 284 years. The founding Fathers( I refuse to use the term"Framers")of America were Christians.Very, very few were "Deists",which means they believed that God formed the universe and then left it to it's own accord.A few of the financers of the Revolution were Jewish.Look at the back of the dollar bill and you will see a tribute to them. The Star of David(Mogen David).George Washington in his farewell address,Thank the Lord Jesus Christ. In God we trust is on our $$$.The only reason our country is a haven for all is because we have a Judaic/Christian ethic. All other countries either make you conform or persecute the hell out of you.

Yes, it has a very profound Christian heritage, although many are making it known that they don't TOLERATE that heritage and that is is now offensive to them.

Yes. People came to America for religious freedom, and the founding fathers organized the Country based on God and their Christian beliefs. Most of the population today remains Christian.

yes, America used to be a very religious, Christian based country; we obeyed and followed our Bible. soon, though, society made acts, that are punishable and horrible to God, acceptable in our culture. our America is not so clean or good in the eyes of our God. our country lacks morals, ethics, and religion especially Christianity. Other religions are permitted to be expressed in public but Christianity is banned. We used to have a good country with a good, solid belief in God. now, we are removing God from our lives, our schools, our country. we let people get away with everything from gay marriages, sexual acts such as sodomy, beastiality, homosexuality, abuse of women and children, drunkeness, infidelity, etc. the Bible and our Lord is very specific on these issues and yet we ignore the Bible altogether. our country is not blessed by God and we have a president who claims to be a Christian man but goes against Israel and other nations of God. i've rambled on enough. sorry.
