It's true that the Catholic Church, which was established by Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit, has remained a steady influence on Western Culture till this day.

Muslims would have taken over much of Europe if it weren't for the influential battles such as those won at Lepanto on Oct. 7,1571 and the stopping of the Turks at Vienna:
On 12 September 1683 Polish hussars (heavy cavalry with characteristic plumage on their backs) under Sobieski's command gained a victory, thus definitively stopping the Turks in one of the greatest and most significant battles in Europe at the time. Nowadays that march to Vienna is referred to as the Relief of Vienna. Sobieski wrote numerous letters to his French wife, Queen Marie Casimire d'Arquien ('Marysieńka'), describing the battle which decided the fate of Europe.

The motivation was high for defeating the Turks, as this war was not as usual for the interests of kings, but for Christian faith. And, unlike the crusades, the battleground was in the heart of Europe.

Seriously, the lack of scholarship is shameful here! Try reading something of the early Church fathers, the disciples of the disciples. Let's see where and when and how that "break" with the original disciples occured.

I think I see where you are coming from with your question......

In a way, the answer is yes....
Prodestantism can date itself and trace it's roots back through the Catholic church. Martin Luther (first father of the prodestant church and where "Lutherans" get their name...) came out of the Catholic faith searching for that very thing, "FAITH". The Roman Catholic church Luther found himself in simply taught a religion of works and by doing everything the Church told one to do, there would be salvation.

But Luther was looking for something more. And finally realized the message had been right in front of him as he read from the book of Romans. Chap 1.16,17
16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

So, your answer is partly yes
but credit for prodestantism can't really be given to the Catholic church. If the Roman Catholic Church had begun Prodestantism totally on their own, wouldn't the Catholic church be defunked and over with? Well, we still have Catholics and Prodestants together in this world. Prodestants got their start with a few Catholics who looked for another way of doing things. By faith instead of by works.

The Apostle Paul (YOUR first Pope, lol) foretold the Apostasy that was the Catholic Church when he said at 1 Timothy 4:1, 3 "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; (3) Forbidding to MARRY, and COMMANDING TO ABSTAIN FROM MEATS, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth." Sure sounds like the priesthood and fish on fridays to me! (When I was growing up, Catholics were unable to eat it on Fridays).

Paul even says that the elders and overseers, if married should only have one wife, so again, there had to be a Catholic Church because the apostasy was foretold. (1 Cor. 9:5; Luke 4:38).

Anyone who believes in Christ sustains Christianity, and there are millions of people today who believe in Christ that are not Catholic.

Also, centuries ago, the Knights Templar were Christians who were killed by the Catholic church, so there WERE Christian groups that were NOT Catholic.

that is not true the original church was with the original disciples...and it has grown from there.....the catholics have changed the true church and not for the better I'm afraid...I believe they were just the beginning of a downfall so to speak. of the church.....they made it something it wasn't intended to be........
