My close friend has a four year old son. They've been having a hard time lately so I offered to save her money by doing their laundry. When I was doing the clothes, she was out running around doing other things, I noticed that his clothes were either warn out or too small. I know what size clothes to get, but sock and shoes i don't. He's about 3'2" and exactly 39 lbs with his old shoes on, he kept stepping on my scale and it announced it for me to hear. I never got a look at his shoes, because i want it to be a surprise, so does anyone have any idea of what his shoe size might be?

What a nice friend. I think that they would be very appreciative of your offer. They are letting you do the laundry so they clearly are reaching out for help from friends and family.

I teach 4 year olds and I have shoe sizes from 8 to 1 in my class. I would buy an 11 but get them from a local store so she can exchange them for the proper size if she needs to. I would also make sure that they have other sizes in stock so that she doesn't go to exchange it and none are available.

Good Luck! SD

What a great question and what a heartfelt thing to do! Bravo to you. There should be more people like you in this world. :)

Anyway, I would not guess at all with shoes! Definitely try to take a peek at his shoes, or ask the mom straight out. If she asks why you want to know, tell her you have a friend whose son is his age and you were just curious. Much better to do that than guess.

My daughter just turned 5 in November and she wears a size 2! So it's hard to guess. He could be small or large in shoes.

Good Luck !! My neighbors boy is 4 but very small and wears a 7 my daughter is 4 and wears a 13. The only advice I can give you is ( It may sound gross) take a dirt sock with you to the store with you and do your best to match it up to a shoe size. But I warn you it may not be a good idea. They may take affence to that. It may make them feel poor. I would take to the mom or dad first. I know you want it to be a suprise but it may lead to sour feelings. Good luck !!

I would guess that the boy wears a size 10, but I can't be sure cuz my 4yr old is bigger, so he wears a shoe size bigger than 10.

Maybe the best thing to do is to take the boy with you to buy him a pair of shoes, it will still surprize his parents, & he may have fun getting to pick out his own shoes - it's fun for my son loves to pick out cartoon/character types of shoes (like Spiderman).

I believe I would ask the Mother if she would be offended if you were to buy her son some shoes. Hopefully she will say no and you can do a good deed for her son.
A gift card is a wonderful idea!

i'd just get them a gift card or gift certificate to the shoe store,, that way they can pick out what kind they like best..... plus, you can tell them it's from santa and a late christmas present,,,, or you forgot to give it to them and accidentally left it in ur purse....

good luck, and it's nice to see someone being nice for a change....
