...makes a extremely bad opinion about harry potter as in saying ...harry uses the stone (for evil)... harry potter is unchristian...etc. etc... while the fact being that they havent read the books, nor watched the movies?
please dont be sarcastic.
...and what would you call it when a person does this as in they make an opinion about something even though they dont know what they are talking about.

its not having anything better to do with their lives that they pick on something that has more to do with
Trust - Harry Trusts his friends and teachers {not Snap}
Loyalty- Harry shows great loyalty to his Friends and teachers {not Snap}
courage in the face of evil- How many times did he face he who must not be named?
All of this shows he is a hero. Whats wrong with a hero for everyone? Nothing we have many and he is just one. The fact is that if people took the time to read it they will see that being a wizard is a small part of who he is.
It is also good because he show how he grieves for his family and Friend that have went on. It lets people who have never seen or dealt with death see how it effects people.
The fact is some people will say Harry Potter is evil {even if he fights evil} and that it is against God. They have not read the books so they have no idea what they are talking about. Until they read them and see that he is infact something that they childern should read, becasue they are not only reading something good but they are reading, then they have nothing to say. Its just them wanting something to do when they should be helping the kids read more or they themselves need to read more.
Far to often we have people that will not put down the tv remote and read a book. Soon we will have a world full of people that can only add 2+2 and sign thier names. We need more Harry Potter and more JK so the world wont be full of people that can not read.
They might also be afraid of other things.

Which is ok they can be mad that they did not do something more than just sit back and say hey thats not right.
We who have read it and know about it know that it is a Good Story about good people fighting the good fight

PS I want to add something, a while back I was surfing the net and I came across a christian website about J.R.R Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, I was extremely offended by the absolutely ignorant and vile things that the website said about such an accomplished author who I have great respect for, certain comments were as follows, Frodo and Sam are homosexuals and were based on the homosexual relationship of Tolkien with CS Lewis, The movies and the book were created to turn people to worship of the devil etc etc it was so disgusting and ignorant, I am sure others make similar ignorant comments about Harry Potter just because they are rude ignorant people... the best thing to do is ignore them because they dont listen to the truth even if they are directly faced with it.

I've read the Harry Potter books and watched the movies and was an avid fan. I even went to the store at midnight for the book once, but now I believe that they are evil and here's why, Prongs (please read all of this):
It's not that they are witches and wizards, because in the book it is they're race, it's something they are born as and cannot help - not a religion or devious act (in the contents of the story that is). Now, where Harry Potter goes wrong is that Dumbledore has said that his power is in that Potter can still love (i think this was in the second book, but I could be wrong). That would be great and almost Christian-like if it wasn't for the fact that Potter only shows signs of being exactly the opposite of what 1 Corinthians 13 says love is. He is jealous and vengeful (not all the time, but revenge is why he continuously goes after Voldemort).
Also, Potter is special because he uses his own powers - a trust in yourself thing which is opposite of the Biblical teaching trust in God.
It is also ungodly in that it is targeted towards 9-12 year old, but the content is for 16-adults (in the later books). Seriously, what 9 year old should be reading about a sociopath that tortures teenagers and takes their blood to live while gathering followers to kill tons of people for fun and for racist advantages?
It's a good question, though. I did a lot of praying and thinking before i threw out my books because I was an avid fan.

For the record, I am a Christian. Harry Potter is a BOOK!!! I love the Book and the movies! The series shows a good verses evil story line. It is very similar to the C.S. Lewis Books, which were written by a Christian Author. As long as you are not being obsessed with and surrounding your life with this, as is the truth about anything in life, there is no harm in enjoying this book. It does not promote evil nor is it vulgar. What is the problem?

It's called making an uninformed judgement if you make such determinations without any research. If you have researched Harry Potter and then come to these conclusions, than I believe that is an acceptable determination, though people are free to disagree on their conclusions.
The Christian community has been concerned about Harry Potter primarily because kids infatuated with Rowling's storyline have been know to get involved with witchcraft when performing research online and running into this information.

I don't think an opinion can be viewed as bad or good, it is just an opinion. Now if the person is making a judgement on Harry Potter being written with evil intentions that is just their own opinion probably based on their own views and beliefs and I wouldn't take it personally.
I for one never read the books, nor seen the movie but I don't think it's evil I see it as a waste of my personal time because it doesn't interest me.
I am a Christian but my reasons are not based on that they are based on the fact I am not an H.P fan.

A typical dumb @ss. Harry Potter is a way cool and very innocent fantasy. And if some silly kid watched Harry Potter and decided to explore witchcraft he or she would quickly find out that real life witches don't fly on brooms or conjure delicious meals or ride hippogriffs or anything cool. Real witchcraft is not going to impress any Harry Potter fan because real witches don't have any cool powers. Bottom line: Very little danger that HP will convert anyone to witchcraft and even if it does real witchcraft is even more fake than Harry Potter.

I am a fundamental Christian. I believe in being very careful what I allow into my head. That being said, I don't have a problem with the Harry Potter movies and books because I used to practise Wicca before I got SAVED and I can verify that their contents bear absolutely no resemblance to real Witchcraft or Sorcery. It is just a story.
