Take into consideration that he practices his magic in the street and does things that are beyong of human logic such as levitating.
It is interesting that he went to south america to consult with some vodoo shamans.

Someone who believes in witchcraft is not stupid. Perhaps David Blain does tricks. But no one can tell that withcraft is not real, what about the OUIJA board, are you gonna say is just tricks? If you do not believe me, play it.

You know I've spoken to a Christian illusionist and he said it is all just illusion. It is so easy for people who believe in the supernatural to see something they don't understand and say, AHA! The devil is behind that. It is a comment that stems from ignorance. My aunt and family members had the same conversation. They were sure a lot of those tricks were Satanic until they went and saw another Christian illusionist, and he showed them how to do some tricks like that. They were blown away that they weren't really magic. I felt bad for them because when they jumped to that conclusion, it made them seem....well stupid.

On the other foot, balance on the balls of your feet and raise your heel. Do this in front of someone who can't see the part of the foot you're resting on, and it will look like you're floating about an inch or so.

When he does the shows where he moves up in the air, he's using wires. He actually says that to the people in the audience, something like 'and now I'll show you how OTHER magicians do it'. But they don't show that part when airing it on TV.

It seems that way but I have a friend who also does street magic that absolutely INSISTS that he can logically explain everything David Blane does.

Of course he wont tell me the secrets but he swears it all slight of hand and illusion.

I can levitate just like him! It's easy, just stand a with your back facing the camera, slightly the side so the camera can't see one of your feet; then stand of one foot. Ooooh, ooooh, look! It's magic! I'm standing on one foot, look at me!
