I have been in a very serious relationship with my white boyfriend for a year and a half now. Unlike most Indians, I don't even have any problems from the family front. My parents are different from most Indian parents (very less conservative). They like him a lot and just want me to be happy.
There have been no problems between us at all yet but I fear that down the road, the fact that we are from different cultures might become a problem in adjusment. I've been in the U.S. for 9 years now but I was brought up in India and I'm very Indian in many ways
Anyway, a friend mentioned today that I may have problems in the future and I'm just so scared of possibly having a failed marriage that I want to ask myself all the questions now instead of it not working out in the future.
Really, in a way, I feel like I'm creating problems for myself that don't even really exist because we love each other and there really haven't been any problems YET. Do you think it will work in the long run?

We're both not very religious at all, so that's not even a problem AT ALL

Every relationship has problems that can be worked out if the two people love each other. Lean on each other, trust each other, and all else can be overcome. You are in a wonderful place. If someone has a problem with your relationship in the future, it their problem, not yours, and you just need to stay away from them. Look around, you aren't the first to be in an interracial relationship nor the last. It will work if you want it to and you work to make it work. You have the support of those you need it from, your loved ones and your boyfriend. Good luck and happy new year!

It shouldn't matter. Race shouldn't come before love and if it does, then it's more of a psychological thing that you personally should work out. I don't really know where the Indian culture and tradition stands on interracial relationships, but if your family is comfortable with your relationship then- (from an outside perspective) -it'll be fine.
Hope I helped.

Life is what you make it out to be. Stop listening to those gossips and work towards making the relationship works. You are very lucky to have uch supportive parents. Move on in life and roof to the world that race, religion and cultures should deter one from moving ahead with life and seeking happiness.

If you are questioning this now I feel you have other problems you should address and only you know what they are. If you both love each other everything else doesn't matter. Be confident of yourself and trust one another and you should be alright. Skin is only wrapping, we are all the same underneath no matter what the culture is.
