Wow never heard of this! Who's tradition is this? I'm assuming the 12 grapes represent the 12 months of the new year. And I'm just guessing grapes represent wine. Sorry but like I said I've never heard of this.

The idea comes from the Greeks and Spanish.You eat 12 grapes for good luck for each month of the following year.

I think its because it's hard to eat just one grape and any more than 12 would make you look like a pig. Just kidding, Its the month thing I think.

Part of the Spanish tradition, at midnight, on each chime of the bell they put one grape in their mouth, then hug each other, but you dont swallow the grapes till afterwards..I dont really know more than that..
