Diet is such an ungly word. Most people associate it with eating lettice twoce a day and having a slim fast. This is just wrong and unhealthy. I have been in the Army for 4 years and my best advice for you is two fold. 1) Run. Run. Run. It is the best workout for burning fat and getting in shape in your cardio system. Believe me, Marines run ALL THE TIME. Doing so ahead of boot camp just makes life that much easier for you. 2) Eat healthy, small meals 5-6 times a day. What does that mean? Don't eat a b-fast of eggs, toast, cereal, banana, OJ, milk. Yes b-fast is important but by no means the most important of the day. Everytime you eat your metabolisum goes up. Your body needs to process that food. No matter how much thier is. It's working. Turn it to your benefit. I generally eat a protien fruit smoothie for b-fast. OJ, strawberries, blueberries and a banana. Mixed up with some fruit flavored protein. Then I eat a decent portion of nuts about 2 hours later. Then a healthy lunch like a chicken salad. Then some crackers about 2 hours later. Finally a small dinner of whatever. Like steak, mashed potatoes etc. NEVER eat within 3 hours of bed, no matter how hungary you feel. Make sure you take a multi-vitamin and drink water constantly. I dunno who said 8 glasses a day, but about a gallon is spot on for an active lifestyle like the Military. Just take a water thing where ever you go and fill it and drink all the time. Military specific excersises are: situps, crunches, push-ups, pull-ups, running and minimal weight lifting for females. These are things you will do at least an hour a day, 5 days a week. Get in the habbit now. set aside 45 min or so right after you wake up and before b-fast. That's when most PT is done anyways. Even a month of this routine will put you far ahead of most of your peers and make your life so much easier. Don't look to lose weight quick. It's not healthy either. Give yourself obtainable goals with your eating plan and excersise routine. Start with 6-8lbs the first month (you will retain more water weight in your first month as your body starts to realize how to handle more fluids). Then another 8-10 the next month. Then back down to 6-8. In no time you will see that you surpass your goals that way, lose weight steadily and healthly.

Don't eat anything after 5pm, if you have to eat after 5pm, eat fruits and vegetables or lean meats to take up space in your stomach. Sleeping on fatty, sugary foods contributes to weight gain. All day avoid processed foods that contain white sugar, bleached wheat (whole wheat is okay) and fats. To exercise, start out walking fast until you get tired then walk back home. Walk fast further the next day and so on. Try to build up to running - endurance and speed will be what's needed in football. Good Luck!

talk to your football coach at your school and express that you want to be part of the team next year. Ask if they do offseason workouts (ours start in Jan.) There should be lifting workouts scheduled and a spring ball set of practices.

Also, do ALOT of running (gassers, sprints, and agility drills cuz endurance running doesnt help for football) and core workouts in your free time to show the coaches you are serious about playing.

Do power cleans, squat and bench for weightlifting. stick to the core excercises so ur strength will go up rapidly in all the major areas. Bear crawls are hell (running on all 4's) but are great for the whole body. Finally just go out and run even though running sucks.

first i would run a lot to get your endurance up. then you should bulk up by going to a gym and working out. You should do these exercises year round to stay in shape.

Join a gym and get a personal trainer and tell him what your plans are and let him set a program for you to achieve your dreams. Happy training.

Sorry to say, but ... stop drinking the beer. With that alone, you will notice some weight loss. But I wouldn't focus so much on losing weight. Instead, start weight training to build strength.
