I give my dogs boiled chicken and white rice. It usually takes a day to work. After a few days, I slowly introduce the dry food back into their diet. If you have changed his food or introduced a new treat this can cause diahria. My sister just gave my dogs a pork rine treat for xmas and all 3 of them are having issues now so they are on the chickent & rice diet until i can get the treat out of them. anytime you introduce a new food, you must do it slowly so their system can work with the change.

First off don't give her any more food. Put her on a liquid diet and by that I mean just plain water. Rest her intestines until you can get her to the vets. Diarrhea is never a good thing. She may have eaten something toxic or she may be sick. Keep her quiet, maybe in a small room like a bathroom with paper on the floor for her to poop on. Her biggest problem will be dehydration, so keep her water fresh and full. Make sure she sees the vet as soon as you can get her there. Most vets are available for emergencies. Make sure there isn't any blood in the diarrhea.

You should get to a vet without delay. Diarrhea is a symptom, not a disease and when diarrhea has persisted more than twenty-four hours a vet should always be consulted. You need to find and remove the underlying cause.
Withhold all food for 12 hours to give the digestive system a rest. If the dog is thirsty give water in small amounts or ice cubes to lick. (pedialyte as suggested is fine too)You can give Kaopectate to the dog just give a young/small child's dosage. As he gets better you can give an easily digestible diet of hamburger and rice, one part hamburger to two parts rice, discard the broth . You can also give in small amounts cottage cheese, cooked macaroni or soft boiled eggs.
Do your best to get your dog to the vet asap even if for nothing more then to make sure your dog is okay.

Stop all foods except dry (biscuit type) foods & water for 24 hours & see if it settles. Check basics like; Have you wormed it lately, worms can cause chronic diareah, Has it had a lot of milk, if so what kinf, dogs can suddenly become lactose intolerant & need to step down to a lowe fat milk or stop having it. Mine had to go to a low fat when they developed a regualar diareah patten, took a couple of weeks to work out tho.
Dogs age, connsistency, colour or smell of feaces can all mean & indicate something different so go to vet if it persists.
Also lift the dogs skin on back of neck, if it falls down quickly rather than slowly riding down its OK but if its not a quick drop back the dog could well be dehydrated & this is serious.

I raise Yorkies and you can always give them pepto bismol or keopetic, it may be time for her to be wormed and also if anyone has been around her that is sick with a bug or cold she may have caught it. Good luck. Make sure she doesn't get low blood sugar, if she starts to act slugish give her some karo syrup. The small Yorkies are prone to have low blood sugar when they don't eat or drink enough.

if there is nothing else going on with your dog - i.e. has no other symptoms, temperature is normal, no change in coloring on nose or mouth, no panting, lethargy, change in energy, change in tongue, contact with another dog, ate something icky (my dog ate a jar of Vaseline once)
then sometimes instant potato flakes will help - sprinkle the flakes on her food but be careful your dog does not get dehydrated. You might try taking her out on a number of short walks (bring baby wipes). Call your vet asap though you can't be too careful - your vet can recommend a dosage of Imodium or pepto (or at least they can for larger dogs)

I suggest giving your pet a bland diet. IE rice and broiled chicken. Giving them a bland diet will help because it's easy to digest and it won't upset their stomach. Bland diet can help for now until the vets are open. Another thing, keep fresh water available so that he/she doesn't get dehydration from losing all of the body liquid from the diarrhea.
Hope your doggy feels better.

I don't know how to stop it, but give her pedialyte instead of water so she won't get dehydrated...it can happen quickly with small breeds. Call the vet as soon as they are open...diarrhea can be caused by a lot of things and some are pretty bad (but don't stress because a lot of them are very easy to treat). Check to see if she is dehydrated by looking at her gums. They should be pink, and if they are white it is a sign of dehydration. Or you can pinch the skin on the back of her neck; if it snaps back it is a good sign, but if it stays up it is another sign of dehydration.

Remember Yorkies are extremely small animals and can dehydrate very quickly. Get your yorkshire terrier to the vet immediately if he/she is vomiting, has diarrhoea, or shows other signs of dehydration. Call your vet first, and never dismiss the fact that it could be fatal.

I would give the dog a small dose of Imodium A-D or one of the other drugs on the market for diarrhea. Just reduce the amount for what they would recommend for a small child. If the dog contines to have this problem I would take it in to the vet.
