All you need is your social security number and the type of card it was, I believe.

You should be fine with calling the company you have the credit card with, give them your name and ss#...and tell them that you would like it canceled. I've never heard anyone say that they needed the account of credit card number.
Hope this helps and Happy New Years!!!

Your credit report should have the creditors contact info. listed or at least the name of the compnay. Then call customer service to see how to close the card out. I'm sure they will ask for your personal identifying infomration such as social security number, etc.

They have to have your card number to cancel the payment. If you are concerned watch your credit card account closely and refute any payments you did not make.

You can try calling their customer service line and let them know your situation. They’ll be really helpful, I’m sure. I think all you’ll need is your personal information handy and they can usually just look you up in their database.
I've been through something similar...I cutted up a card and then later wanted them to send me another one, I didn't have the account number nor the credit card number, but they were able to look me up with my personal information that I provided to them.
Hope that helps. :)

That's very easy. I've canceled cards after shredding them. Simply call the credit card company, give them all of your info (social, address when you had the card, birth date, etc.) and tell them you want to cancel it.

call the credit card company and tell them your social security # and they will find the account and close it for you.

Once you contact the financial institution they will be able to cross reference your account with your social security number.
