Its not really magic underwear its similar to underwear except that it has some marks that have religious significance and it is a reminder for the wearer of the covenants they made when they went to the temple.
Its along the lines of what Orthodox Jews wear, the prayer shawl and long side locks. Or the sikhs and the turbans. Just a symbol nothing else.

It's not magic underwear. It's a special garment that they're supposed to wear as a sign of their religion. And it's rude to talk about in public.

I'm not mormon, but I have had friends who are. I believe that we all need to respect each other's religions in as much as possible, because religions are part of being human and we're all human together on this planet.
When we disrespect each other's religions this leads to trouble, even war. So let's make a contribution to peace on this new year by treating each other with respect, even those whose ways are different from ours.

Sorry nowt to do with the Q but for the girl who wrote not to read any book other than the bible, oh uh! My tv mag goes out the window then! Of course we have free agency to read what we want, and only judge The Book of Mormon when you have read it yaself!

Well... I got an answer for ya... they are called garments. First of all, if there is a god, he's not concerned with your underwear. LDS folk wear them for several reasons: modesty, hygiene, and it allows them to feel special.
While the church discourages this, many attribute safety and protection to the garments. Like firemen or policemen who don't get injured.

Amen to She-Nerd. As others have stated, they are primarily a reminder of the covenants made with God in their temples. Just like Jews and prayer boxes (forgot what they were called).

Who knows, but they read from the book of Mormon instead of the Bible, sad huh ?
No disrespect meant, I believe God has people in all Churches, but don't Revelation say not to read from any other book except the Holy Bible ?

It is magic underwear if it is thick enough to stop the smell of them passing gas in front of the man behind who has his nose too close when they are all praying 5 times per day. - nose to cheek - so to say.
