you could, but it would be depriving yourself of vital nutrients and minerals from other foods. our society, it's easy not to exercise. to start and stay motivated, try exercising the same time of day and be accountable for your actions. don't try making excuses not to exercise, instead, make excuses to exercise. make it a habit and soon you will crave it. get a workout buddy so the both of you can workout together. that way, you won't find an excuse not to commit to a daily routine. try thinking about how many years you will add to your life, how you will feel, and how many diseases you will ward off by exercising every day. to get more exercise without realizing it, park your car at the far end of the parking lot, take a few flights of stairs instead of the elevator/escalator, walk around the mall for a full 30 minutes without stopping, play with your children for 30 minutes, clean the house for a full 30 minutes, walk whenever you can. invest in some hand weights and add weight training to your routine. once you start seeing results and feeling better, you will want to continue. also, eat more fruits, vegies, berries, lean proteins, soy products, whole wheat, high fiber, whole grain carbs, and low fat dairy products. feeling good and healthy on the inside will help you stay focused on the outside. drink more water and green tea and limit your consumption of diet soda to 2 cans a day and stay away from fast food and junk food. i hope this helps. good luck.

Ten pounds in a month is do-able on an ordinary diet, so there's no need to do a restrictive one like you're suggesting. You'll get headaches and stuff - no fun.
I'm going to start a diet once the holidays are over (not doing it on 1st January on principle) and I intend to eat between 1,200 and 1,400 calories a day (you'll need more if you're male). Based on my experience of the last time I did this, I expect to lose 8-10 pounds in the first month, and that's without exercising.
Go for healthy food and for not being starving hungry. Jacket potatoes (with cottage cheese if you like! And add some tomatoes and raw onion too), chicken stir-fry, soups and stews, massive plates of salad, tons of veggies. Add salad and veggies to everything, to fill you up.
Have a "normal" meal every couple of days but only have half what you'd usually have - these are the foods you'll be going back to once you've finished dieting, so you may as well practice portion control at a time when you're pleased that you're "allowed" to even eat any of it at all.
Try that for a month and if it doesn't work you can always use the cheese/apple thing as a back-up plan.

If you just eat apples and cottage cheese i think that you'd lose a lot more than 10 pounds in a month. But you will put it all back on again very quickly. Your beat bet would be to follow a low fat diet and join a gym or do more exercise

Probably, but your body would lose an awful lot of essential nutrients if you just ate apples and cottage cheese. You would end up being thinner but very unhealthy, which isn't good! Following a diet like that would be really difficult to stick to as well; I would crack if I tried to eat just apples and cottage cheese for a month. Also, you would put most of the weight back on after you started eating normally again.
If you really want to lose weight, the best way to do it is through sensible eating and regular exercise. Take up a sport that you enjoy and stick to it. That way you'll be having fun, and losing weight will be a pleasurable experience, not torture! Good luck. :o)

Eat wisely -- lots of lean meat (chicken, turkey), limited amounts of unsalted nuts in place of meat; lots of fruit and greens; Whole wheat bread, not white; cut down on salt; A good breakfast (oatmeal is great, with fruit); yogurt (fat free) once a day; skim milk (I like 1%); cut out all the carry-out foods such as Jack in the Box, Burger King, etc. Walk, walk, walk -- briskly, at least 30 minutes a day, up and down hills is good. I've lost 30 lbs. this past year doing these things. I'm up to walking an hour a day and usually about 3 miles. But, I started at 20 minutes, and could hardly breathe after that! Treat yourself to something every time you lose a pound, but limit it to 1/2 of what you'd normally have. I like ice cream, but now eat frozen yoguert. I eat ice cream for special occasions, but try to walk a little more the next day Keep at it!! Good luck!!

You probably should add a little more variety than that or your body might go into "starvation mode" and actually hang onto the weight. Maybe apples, applesauce, tomato juice, green peppers, celery, lo-fat yogurt, fat free milk, 2 or 3 fat free pretzels (but then there's the salt), refried beans, green beans, fresh peaches, lean turkey lunchmeat, lo fat cottage cheese, whole grain brown rice, plain popcorn, baked squash, egg substitute, lots of water. Each time you take a bite of food, take a few drinks of water to wash it down and help you feel fuller.
Also try doing something active for 20 minutes a day even if it is just marching in place, dancing, walking around the room, squats or that sort of thing.
Good luck to you!

You will be starving your body and losing water weight. Your body may burn off fat reserves, but it will be seriously under nourished. Apples and cottage cheese lack almost any calories which you need to actually function as a human being. They also lack vitamins and minerals that you need to live healthy. They have no protein to keep your muscles strong, very little if any vitamin E to make your hair shiny and your skin smooth. Apples contain very little vitamin C, so you may get a mild case of scurvy (your gums recede and bleed, you start getting fatigued, you can't fight off illness very well).
Even if you take vitamin supplements, it still is totally unsafe to starve your body like that.
Talk with your doctor or nutritionist to work out an eating plan that will help to to maintain a healthy weight for you.

While both apples and cottage cheese are good foods, to eat them to the exclusion of everything else is not a healthful thing to do. Try instead eating lots of salads, a small amount of meat, eggs, or cheese each day, and lots of fresh vegetables. Add a serving of fruit and watch the serving sizes. That way you can lose the weight safely and end up lighter and HEALTHY!

you'll starve. Cut out at least half the meat you eat, no snacks (chips, candy ect.), not soda, lots of water, alot more veggies, take a multivitamin, and if possible walk at least 1-2 miles a day (power walking) 3-4 days a week, 15 minutes of floor exercises (sit-ups) leg lifts, push ups, whatever. No alcohol. This will work wonders in one month (everyone is different) you will lose 10-15 lbs minimum guarnteed. I know, I did it, it worked, and I usually don't do anything. You will have so much more energy, look great feel good. Just do it. Now I need to take my own advice

Carlos,
quick fixes do NOT work. If you want to lose some weight try to find *your* personal motivation to do so. It takes constant effort and commitment to stay healthy and if you don't have a reason that works for you you are going to get all the weight back (not to mention the damage to your health that would derive from apples and cottage cheese).

Would you lose weight? Yes, most likely. Would this be a healthy meal plan? No.
Exercise and healthy meals, with NO junk food will work best for healthy weight loss. Often the first week's loss is about five pounds, depending on how hard you try and how much you have to lose. Each week after you could lose up to two pounds, making a ten pound loss a possibility.
