Some dude living in a Monastary somewhere is the best fighter. Actually no one can really answer that until every Kung Fu person in the world fought each other and one came out the victor

Shifu Shi De Jian is the best fighter in the world, because he focuses on fighting and fighting only--NOT wushu. He is also humble enough that he lives away from most media and tourist paths; he teaches, but only if he feels you can accept all of his teaching rather than just the physical art. I loved the tiny amount of time I got to spend with him.
The best fighter who came before him would be Huo Yuanjia (yes, he really did live). I say this because the hard lessons he learned later inspired an entire generation of gongfu students to learn martial arts for a reason other than proving themselves to the death.
Did anyone who answered this question actually know any gongfu history before answering...?

There's no kung fu fighter out there unless you consider Cung Le as a kung fu guy.

Well, to be fair, I could kick Bruce Lee's ***... he's dead. It'd be pretty friggin easy I think. I would wait for him to die. Shortest fight ever.
I would say that the BEST Kung Fu fighter in the world lives somewhere on Song Mountain in China. Shaolin, yo. They pwn.

Bruise Lee when he was alive. but if your going to go by the living Jet Lee. Hes the fastest. Whenever he makes a film they have to slow the film down ten times the normal speed rait so that we can see him.

Bruce Lee of course, he was able to put together all forms of fighting techniques into one fighting forms. His body was even faster then his mind. Isn't what killed him.
