i need some ideas for my daughters birthday party!?

she will be 5 on february 4th and i want to have a cheap party but still fun, any ideas?

Another thing you could do is go to the dollar store and get little favors and gift bags for them for the other kids, you could do a paper mache pinata it doesn't even have to be very big, the one I made my kids was just round and we painted it together. Another thing is you can get some craft things for kids at the dollar store and do them at the party, a lot of kids like to get to make things.

There are some great ways to have inexpensive, yet memorable parties. For my son's 6th, we had an I Spy Treasure Hunt. I made up a little I Spy poem for each room in our house. When the boys had completed the poem, they received a clue to the location of a piece of a "treasure map". and a little trinket (magnifying glasses, compasses, mini flashlights, etc.). The map lead them to our basement where I had hung a treasure chest pinata. Inside the treasure chest were rubber snakes and a second map. This map lead them to our attic which we had decorated as an Egyptian pyramid (with the help of a very talented 14 year old!). In the pyramid was a treasure chest full of their treat bags and some gold cardboard crowns. The entire party was very inexpensive (cost of treats and the cake), but it kept the kids very busy and gave them something to talk about!

Another inexpensive idea is to have a "ball". Include in the invitations that the girls should wear their best princess dress. All you need to provide are the treat bags, some refreshments, decorations (Christmas lights are a must!), and some good music for them to dance to! We did this for my daughter's 3rd and it was a big hit.

I am the queen of birthday parties. Pick out her favorite cartoon, or whatever. My daughter is 5 and her favorite now is Hello Kitty. I would get her a Hello Kitty cake. Then I would got to the dollar store or somewhere and buy the matching plates and streamers. I have found out that pizza is the way to go. It is quick and easy to clean up and almost all kids love it. Just check around your area and find out what pizza place has the best deals. When is her birthday? My daughters is in July, so we go to the park. She gets to pick which park to go to. If it's not that warm where you are, then just have it at the house. But make sure you have some games to play, or you are going to have some rowdy 5 yr olds running around. The dollar store should have goody bags too. That way you can pass them out to all the kids. Go and buy some cheap "goodies' from a discount store such as little play tiaras, rings, braclets or something like cars for boys, lollypops. put them in a bag and use it as price bag in games like, pass the parcel, statues, musical chairs. have a dance competition and give the children who danced well or co-operated. Make play dough and give them some kitchen utensils to use with the dough, or get some scraps from around the house some glue and craft sissors. Let them be creative.

If you hold the party mid morning say 9:30-11:30am (thats plenty of time they are only 5) or afternoon it will save having to provide meals. Just provide some refreshments. Some we have done include. They are really cheap and very very easy.
Smiley face cookies: Buy a packet of plain cookies, make icing in a couple of colours, spread the icing on the cookies and use lollies to make smiley faces.
Frog in a pond: Make green or blue jelly cups and stick a candy frog on top
Bugs on a log: fill celery sticks with peanut butter and put saltanas/raisens (bugs) unevenly on top (just make sure that no one is allergic some kids cant even go near peanut butter)
Mini Pizza: small english muffins or dinner rolls, top with chosen pizza topping and cheese, warm in oven for 10-20 minutes.
Sausage Rolls: mix sausage mince with herbs pinch of salt and pepper. roll in pastry sheets cut into small segments brush with milk and bake until golden brown.
Fruit and Cheese Platter: Put small peices of inseason fruit, some crakers and some small peices of cheddar or other mild cheese on a platter.

PLAY DOUGH
1 cup flour
1 cup warm water
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon oil
1/4 cup salt
food coloring
Mix all ingredients, adding food coloring last. Stir over medium heat until smooth. Remove from pan and knead until blended smooth. Place in plastic bag or airtight container when cooled *Cream of Tatar makes the mixture smoother but can be made without!

You could pick out your daughter's favorite tv or book character and buy the little plates and stuff that go along with it . You could still do the slumber party but ask her friends to bring over games that they enjoy so that she will get a variety of games and make it so that your daughter will pick whose game she likes best. By the way, that's my birthday too! :)

For my son's 2nd bday we had the neighborhood kids come over...and they were ages 2 to 8. I didn't do anything special...that day (April) was unusually warm...so instead of everyone inside and ordering pizza, we BBQ'd hot dogs and burgers for the adults. I frosted them, and then gave each kid their own cakesicle to decorate. Sprinkles, candies....etc. One cake box made so many cakesicles, I gave them extra cakes to decorate. Kids were busy for a while. I gave this idea to one of my friends and she did the cakesicles, and cupcakes...I think she did cupcakes and tied in singing happy birthday with them. We had a family party the next day, so I wasn't concerned with the no singing. I have also heard of an idea where it is the same concept, except you bake the cake batter in an ice-cream cone--check it out: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Ice-Cream-Cone-Treats/Detail.aspx But, maybe you can tie it in with Valentine's day and have hearts and such. Another fun idea at a party we went to was T-shirt decorating. I have no idea how much that cost, but it was fun. If there aren't too many kids...it's an idea.

Take all the birthday party guests and the birthday girl out for a movie,bowling.a trip to the zoo or to any event that a lot of people can enjoy like a ice show or the circus if it's in town and then take them all out for pizza and ice cream.

Make it a princess party. Buy cheap crowns, jewlery, & shoes from the dollar store or walmart for them to wear, let them blow bubbles, & play barbies in your daughters room, you could even put makeup on the girls & paint their nails for a fun activity - they'll love it

Have everyone over and play a few games - the egg on a spoon race thing (hardboiled egg), You could get a pretty jar, have everyone guess how many pieces of ______are in it - whoever is closest gets to keep it. Stuff like that.
