Yes, if a trainer wants to make you d cardio on your dime the are ripping you off! I am a trainer and you are paying me to watch you on a treadmill for 40 minutes. i only strength train with clients. Get a cardio program from him/her and do it on your own. They should just demonstrate how to do it right.

You might have to be prepared to explain why not cardio.... if s/he gave you a professional opinion suggesting cardio, then you should have a counterargument for him/her to understand your position. You don't want him/her to think you are lazy or throw tantrums just because.
