I don't agree with giving the mother dog a chicken neck. Too many little bones for her to choke on. Did the Mother dog have the pups when the owner was there? If yes, then follow their directions. They won't begin eating on their own until they are 5 or 6 weeks old. The only think they need now is the milk their Mother supplies.
If they are two weeks old then they may begin to explore a ittle bit in another week or so. But mostly they will stay close to their Mom. Make sure that they are in a protected area. I don't agree with putting them into a cage, the Mother needs to be able to get in an out. close off an area in the kitchen or laundry room with a divider that isn't too high for the Mother dog to get over, but high enough to keep the puppies in.

How long will the people be gone? If there a way to contact them to check with them what they want you to do.

First of all, you absolutely NEVER give a dog any kind of chicken bones nor milk. If this owner doesn't know that, they have no business having a dog or leaving a pregnant dog with someone who can't take care of the litter.

How long are you housesitting anyway? If these totally irresponsible people aren't back by the time the puppies are 4 weeks old, they need to be fed dry puppy food moistened with warm water twice a day. They also need a supply of fresh water. In case the "owners" never return, the mother will have them weaned around 6 weeks, at which time they need to be fed 3 times a day with fresh water always available.

They walk at about 3 weeks and obviously need to be kept confined.

feed her canned dog food i had to hand feed her and be by her side you have to show her were the water is. If you have a room that you don't often use or your bed room put her in a box that has a space in it so she can get out and walk around. You should keep her fed well and also lots of fluids make sure that the puppies can't get out of the box. Do not feed her milk the more she eats the more milk she will produce. Soon the puppies will walk around but now they can't see, hear or smell. they are helpless untill 3 weeks of age. Soon they will be up and running for real!

I think that would be enough for a small dog. Maybe give more when the pups get bigger and drink more from mom. Maybe think about getting a short box that the mom can easily jump in and out of ,but harder for the pups. I think they walk at 3 wks and start to run at 4 or 5 wks. You can give start trying to feed them solid food at 3-4 wks.

feed the dog more food for a sturdy supply of milk
get one of those tall cages like the baby play pins
