Peter was not the first Pope. A pope is a politcal position created way after Peter. Peter was told by God that His Church would be build on the Rock, and Peter is that Rock. True, he began the first Church.
Who in the world ever told you the gospels were all written between 64 -67 AD might come next week and sell you a bridge.
Or did you just come up with that to try to make some kind of cool point? Peter was crucified for teaching the true Word of God. After you learn some truth, come on back and we'll answer all your honest questions.

According to the Catholics He was a pope . Almost every Apostle was either crucified or murdered in some terrible fashion. One of them was flayed alive, one was speared,. one was crucified upside down, several were crucified. I have the historical data somewhere in this house I live in. I am just not sure where it is. I would think that since Jesus was found in a great amount of historical literature of that time that you would know that HE did actually exist. He came, was crucified, arose and wqas seen by thousands of people then was seen being taken into the heavens. What more do you want??

At the time of Simon Peter there were thousands of Christians scattered across the Mediterranean. The Gospels were written by four different authors at various times, NOT all at once by one person.
There's no evidence that he was the first "Pope" of Rome. The papacy developed centuries after Christ.

historistity is the queston that proceeds this
the simon bar jonah (simon peter) burial box
was found in 1952 by two catholic scholars (jesuits) along with mary, martha and lazerous
we are talking about a conspiracy here, which subjects your queston to some doubt because conspiracys are more difficult
(but not impossible)
we have not only first hand witnesses like john the apostle and josephus the jewish historian
but paul the anti christian jew who turns and converts
not tens but hundreds and even thousands of christans died
died
but 900 people died for jim jones religon and david koresh killed 67
it is possible in reality that simon bar jonah was a cult leader.
how do you tell a cult leader
by his message
does the letters of peter
in the bible and out of the bible
christian etherial library www.ccel.org
show that peter was a wacked out cult leader
or a man changed by god
that is somthing that each individual must study for himself
godspeed

you question leads to this answer- This man Peter, made up Jesus and spread the gospel, and spoke of Jesus even to the point of dying a horrible death on a cross for his made up belief? Doesn't that sound ridiculous. Who would die for a story they made up. Peter died for His Faith in the REAL Jesus.

No, there are secular writings (Ie Josephus, a jewish historian) that speak of Jesus that are outside the cannon of scripture. Why would people die for someone or something they invented?

Oh, yeah, a guy would make up someone and organize all of his biograpy, just so he could be hung upside down on a cross. Sure.
Why would you even think that?
