I have these really pretty favor boxes. Problem is, after I ordered them & put one together I realized, "Wow, these are fairly big."

So I'm open to suggestions other than candy like you normally see in favor boxes. Or if candy, any ideas about inexpensive candy to put in them? I had thrown around the idea of Jelly Belly Jelly Beans (I found a bulk site that offers them at a decent price), but I'm paranoid about how long they'd stay fresh.

It's going to take about 4ozs to put in the box to make them not look empty & I've got 65 boxes to fill. I'd like to avoid breaking the bank if possible. :)

I forgot to mention that I'm stuffing some tissue paper in the boxes. :)

The Jelly Beans sound good if you can get them in your wedding colors? or M & M's or white choc. covered tiny pretzels (that you can do yourself?).

Favors in Boxes

Ensconced in tiny, exquisitely decorated boxes, a few candies or a slice of groom’s cake become delightful gifts for guests to take with them at the end of the celebration. You can easily prepare the favors in large quantities if you use an assembly-line approach, but start early to avoid a last-minute rush.

Start with plain, inexpensive boxes, and fill them with anything you like: a souvenir from the city you are marrying in; a scented soap; or a few scrumptious cookies, chocolates, or other sweets. And be sure to consider how best to display the finished favors. You might arrange them in rows on a large table by the door, pile them in bowls for centerpieces, or set them at each guest’s place—perhaps even having them serve double duty as place cards.

Check out the source site for some ideas about how to creatively decorate the boxes and display them.

You could go to a candy shop and buy candies that are the same colors as your scheme. I'm sure you can find hard candies that would work, or get Jelly Belly's, mints, etc. It's fun and different. Another idea is to find a local company that makes some sort of food item that they may be famous for. It could be chips, candies, chocolates, cookies, beer or wine. It helps promote local businesses, is probably cheaper, and adds a local touch that everyone will appreciate.

If they are a big box, you could either do cookies or perhaps just one or two larger pieces of candy. You can also stuff the bottom with tissue paper to take up some of the space.

How about a votive candle (buy them in packets of 4 or 6 at Dollar General), a little packet of bath salts? Cradle it in pretty colored tissue paper to take up any extra room.
You can buy a big box of scented bath salts and divide it up. Place it in little squares of plastic wrap and tie with a pretty ribbon.

How about potpourri and a small tealight? We received that at a friend's wedding. We have also received packets of wildflower seeds and a small note. In our daughter's, we put put sugar cookies decorated to look like baseballs and cracker jacks since they met and he proposed at a baseball game.

if you and your fiance have a hobbie you can have your name and date of the wedding imprinted on it, I had a friend who had hockey pucks as favors with their favorite team on one side and their faces imprinted on the other.
Another did wedding m&ms with their initials on them . Another did snow globes with flowers instead of snow and their picture inside with their pictures, be creative and make it memorable for your guest as well .
