I am a United Methodist, and I think every one of our churches is a little different from one another. Yes, we have a beautiful sanctuary with stained glass windows. We begin the service with Liturgy. We sing old standard hymns, many written by Charles Wesley.
We are very quiet and attentive during the sermon, and we have a very warm family atmosphere.
So far, our Conference has not approved of gay leadership, nor membership, but gay people are certainly welcome to come and listen to see what they think of how we present God.
I pray God will assist you in your search. May you find the church body He wants you to serve in where you will do the Kingdom the most good.

I'm not a Christian, I'm a Baha'i. The Baha'i Faith is an independent world religion.
But before you ignore the rest of this answer. It is a common misunderstanding that only Christians believe in Jesus or the Bible. Muslims do also, and so do Baha'is. Rather than selecting a man-made denomination of Christianity, I would suggest investigating whether Christianity has been made anew, fulfilled.
I believe that the Baha'i Faith is the fulfillment of Christianity. I have faith that God has not abandoned humanity, but sent "another Comforter" as the Bible says, to help humanity. That Comforter is Baha'u'llah, the Return of Christ in the Glory of the Father. He has given teachings that are suitable for the world we live in today and will eventually establish the promised Kingdom of God on earth. Investigate more, and you will be surprised by what you learn.

Have you given any thought to Catholicism? I'm a convert to Catholicism. It can be depended on to never embrace gay marriage! Some many Anglicans have come into the Catholic Church that there are even entire "Anglican Use" parishes that retain elements of the Anglican liturgy.

Well, I'm not sure if it's a denomination, but I used to go to a Pentecostal Church, what I've heard is that pentecostalism is derived from Methodism.
Anyway I dont go to the Church anymore because of personal resolutions and beliefs about the Church as institution, but I keep following the Pentecostal movement in faith, faith in God and in his son JesusChrist. Pentecostals believe that one must be saved by believing in Jesus as Lord and Savior for the forgiveness of sins and to be made acceptable to God. Well I guess many others denominations seek this as well, right?
Oh, and talking about gay marriage, I dont agree with it. I respect homosexuals, and I think they should be respected of course, but marriage and children's adoption should be strictly forbidden for them, it's not right. Maybe if they do get married, let it be just civil marriage, but including a religious ceremony, no way, neither in Catholic churchs or Protestant Churchs, it shows a total lack of respect to God, making believe that God himself approved that marriage, which, as the Bible shows, it's not correct. So, if any Christian denomination has approved that already, I dont think God will see them with good eyes anymore.
Anyway, these last statements have been just a personal opinion.
God Bless you and Happy New Year!!!!

Catholic. It means being closer to God and having the eucharist which represents God's body in the wafer. The sacraments help a person become closer to their savior and the priests have always been nice. It means to me faith and doesn't matter how many think Catholics are evil, for me is the only sane religion. They are traditional and is very family-oriented, all of the other Christian religions follow our traditions like baptism (even of infants), communion, and the Nicene Creed. Everytime I go to church, I feel better and at peace. That is what you should feel everytime you go to church. Also, I see you're conservative the Catholic Church is firmly pro-life and against gays marrying. Hope you find a religion that you like.

I belong to a Methodist church but it is special. God's presence is truly working there. My parents attend a Methodist church in another town but I really couldn't go there. There is no light of life there. My brother belongs to a nondenominational missionary church with a great outreach program.
What I am saying is, there is no right or wrong denomination and churches within each denomination will differ. Your best bet is to go "church shopping" in your area. Find a place where you feel God is at work and put your talents to good use. God Bless.

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses, which is not just a Sunday religion. It is a way of life. We are not considered Christians by many, but we are. We follow Jesus' example. We follow the Bible (whether it is your version or mine).
Jehovah's Witnesses have high moral standards. We endeavor to do God's Will. Prayer is the number one element to being one of Jehovah's Witnesses. So, I have a very close relationship with God. I feel that being raised as I was has kept me safe from so many hardships that face teens and young adults. Applying counsel from the scriptures has made my marriage stronger. I have happy, well-adjusted children.
It means everything to me to be a servant of Jehovah, and an imitator of his son, Jesus Christ.

I am associated with Jehovah's Witnesses, and it's special to me because it answered the questions that I had about God and religion and hell and death that no one else was able to answer in relation to a loving God. I believe that they have the truth of the matter, and I studied long and hard in different religions to be able to make an informed decision. Try contacting your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, and tell them of your need. They will happily speak with you in your own home, using your own Bible, and answer whatever concerns you might have about the differences in religion. You might just be surprised. Good luck in your search for the truth. Even if you discover that what Witnesses have to say is not for you, at least then you can also say you made an informed decision! :)

I think while you are exploring you should venture out further than just branches among your particular faith, there are many forms of spirituality and not all of them can be placed under just one type of god lover... Jesus mentions many things in the bible regarding how like he we were. If explored enough spirituality can become many things for you. Open mind open heart.
Light and Love to you my friend on your journey to faith.

I'm part of the Assyrian Syriac Orthodox church. It's the oldest church ever established, we speak Assyrian which is "modern" Aramaic--the language Jesus spoke.
