stock vette vs porshe carrerra?

OK so me and a kid in my neighborhood have an argument going and wanted ur guys' input. He says a stock vette will beat a stock carrerra... Wht do u guys think???? Thnx Myrnna

Depends on alot of things....what year vette and porsche, what type of racing, what distance, etc.

There have been several models of Porsche known as Carrerra:
356, 904 911, 964, 993,996,997 924 and Carrerra GT.

And Corvettes, especially since the ZR1 and Z06 models, have been pretty quick (the new 505 HP Z06 set the speed record at the Nuremburg Ring in Germany for Stock assembly sports cars, barely besting the GT3), but not all corvettes have been fast.

Also keep in mind you're comparing a several hundred thousand dollar car in the Porsche, to a 50-65 thousand dollar car in the new C6 Corvettes, with the Z06 being at the 65K range.

Porsches do typically handle better, especially those with all wheel drive..much better cornering and traction, especially in wet weather.

In SCCA GT1 events, the C5R and C6R's have smoked the Porsches...

Dollar for Dollar, your best bet is the Corvette Z06. Add a Lingenfelter Twin turbo, (about 70K upgade) you'll get a 0-60 time around 1.9 seconds.

But if you have 300 thousand to spend, the porsche is a VERY VERY sweet car.

Beat in what way? If we are talking about the current version of each car, I think it would wind up being pretty close. The Vette would probably have the upper hand in a drag race, though the better brakes on the Porsche would give it a slight edge around a road course... though on the right course the advantage could shift the other way, and if you are talking about the C4 Carrera, then maybe the AWD would give it the advantage off a line.

In the end though, it would ultimately be determined by driver of each.

there is a show called top gear they may have head that on there show it a really cool show but i think the carrerra would win but it depends on what type of vette it is just may beat the carrerra

ask your local grey hair retiree person they can tell you they all have new corvettes.my neighbor is 67 and has an o6 vette.they probably know.and as for the carrera i'm not kidding i saw a seventy year old white hair lady driving a customized brand new carrera convertible today.blew my mind.

yes but the porche wont have to stop for gas as much so i get it depends on the distance

a vet is heavy, slow and handles like a truck. a poorshe is lighter and made to go fast also.
