I love the little gifts - if the couple can afford it. I traveled a long way to the last wedding and did not even get to say a personal hello to the bride and groom. So a old fashion receiving line is still nice where they can thank you personally for coming.

A guest? To dinner? At a wedding...?
I like when they give gifts. A nice candle or picture frame, something I might actually use/keep, maybe a heartfelt & personal keepsake (a poem, CD, photo) if it's someone I'm very fond of...I like when guests are included in the reception (someone at each table has to sing a line from a song about love -- maybe that's because I love singing -- to get the couple to kiss, rather than just clinking glasses). Dancing is always my favourite part. Try to keep speeches short this can drag on & be boring.
Good luck & congrats!

If you are having children at your reception, definately have a childrens section set up, not too far from the rest of the wedding guests. but far enough for them to not bother everyone and their parents can still keep an eye on them! You can have coloring books, stickers, little toys and bubbles. I've used pin wheels in flower pots and they served as the center pieces instead of flowers. Everyone at the wedding will appreciate it.
By all means, include your guests in your big day! In your invitations you can include a recipe card and ask them to bring it filled in with their favorite recipe, at the signing table, have a box or a basket for them to drop it in. Make sure you have a blank for them to put their name on the recipe card and maybe even a little remark section.
A good keepsake is cookies that go with your theme/colors! Just make sure the cookies aren't just cute but actually taste good!
Include lots of pictures of you and your special someone!
I love weddings with slideshows of the couple as children and since they met and as they grew into the new couple getting married! You could also incorporate framed pictures in your centerpieces!

I personally love the souvenir table. As a bride to be I've reminisce on Weddings I've attended and that was one thing I still think about. It was a med size round table with two baskets on it. Each basket contained a take home item like fake wedding bands, bubbles with decor on them. I'm still deciding on what to put in the place of the fake wedding bands lol. Congrats and Good Luck!
