Off the beaten path...
On Arthur Ave the choice is Dominick's (2335 Arthur Ave) although the experience isn't going to be exactly what you expect. It's a small, crowded place. You have your choice of what's on the menu, unless they aren't in a mood to cook the particular item you want. You can have any pasta as a side dish, as long as it's what's in the steam pot. You may have to share your table with a stranger. I've never asked if they take credit cards, cash always works. For all the eccentricities, amazing food.
Another great location is East Tremont Ave. Favorites are Patricia's (3764 E Tremont), which has great entrees and the best pizza anywhere, and Tosca (4038 E Tremont), which is just a really nice place.
Another place that's been around forever is Ginos, 817 Allerton Ave.
Can't go wrong with any of these.

Anywhere took the words right out of my mouth.
If your Italian, well you should know that, but bring lots of cash for the markets, Greco's is the best.
Think I'll go on Sat!

Pasquale's on Arthur Ave. I personally do not care for Mario's. It gets a lot of raves, but I would pick Pasquale's anytime over Mario's.
Bon Appetit!

Go to Arthur Avenue.
The restaurants all over Little Italy are excellent! The only way you could get better is to fly to Italy yourself!
