If it feels right to not go then you are doing the right thing!
You are not being childish whatsoever!
What are your other plans for tonight? Hope you enjoy the new year!
Insert cliche here: "Absence makes the heart grow fonder..."

I think you did the right thing refusing to go. I do not understand why she would ask you if this other guy will be there. Maybe she thinks that just because you two have been a little more friendly than is required in a friendship, that nothing has changed between you. This is very insensitive on her part. Go out and have a great time someplace else and Happy New Year.

You aren't being childish. You wrote a good question.
Just go and her behavior will tell you if she is worthy of a relationship with you or not! Watch her "body language". You can go to the party and still have a good time! Don't be negative yet! Go and see how it goes, ok? Why stay alone on New Year's Eve?
This way, when you go to the party, one way the other you will find out how much you mean to your girl! Isn't that better to see for yourself??????

I think you're making the right decision! I don't think she's messed up for asking you either. I mean, her intentions may not be bad at all. But it would definetly be awkward. And although there would be other people you could hang out with (so if you have a friend or someone you know to hang out with, then go!) you may get jealous. Of course, maybe it will be good to see if she hangs all over this other girl to see if you should still be messing around with her or not. It's up to you.

Don't feel wrong or bad for the way you feel. If your gut is telling you that you're only there as the backup, then you made the right choice to not go.
She has to know you're interested in her. But yet she also invited the guy she has an interest in. Not good.
You made the right choice.
Good luck!

I see your point, that might have been a little messed up of her. However, I think you should have gone. If she didn't still have any spark for this other guy, then she would have given her attention to you tonight, and that would have been fine. If, on the other hand, she was all over this other guy, you'd have seen it for yourself, and known that she wasn't for you, and had a party full of hotties to work your magic on instead of her- and to hell with what she would have thought of it. As it stands, I think you missed out on a chance to show her that you are a confident guy either way.
