I've had the same problem for about 3 years. And now, it's been a year and a half, acne free and proud. I have literally done everything before but nothing was seemingly working. Then, I was introduced to Nitrogena, grapefruit kind, face wash. I washed my face using it twice a day, when I wake up and before I sleep. It was a complete miracle worker, take it from me. Just continue using it all the time. It even removes blemishes and acne scars. But always make sure, to get the grapefruit kind, no other,it's acids work the finest. It's about 7 bucks at any drugstore or Walmart, Target, etc.. Good luck..

There is a wash called "Sal-Ac" that is a salacylic acid wash that will help with blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples (ask pharmacist to order this non-prescription item if you don't see it on the shelf.) Also a low% benzoyl peroxide wash (will be less irritating then a higher %) or benzoyl peroxide topical (low %.) I would see a dermatologist for moderate to severe as unfortunately onlly pills will get rid of this (sorry!) There is a new treatment called a Blue Light that some dermatologists have in their offices. It gets rid of acne using a special light but takes several treatments. This light is an alternative to pills. A dermatologist could prescribe you a retinoid (for blackheads/whiteheads) and a prescription benzoyl peroxide topical/antibiotic for our acne. Forgot if you are a female, BCP's (like Yasmin) help fight acne.

NATURAL ACNE PROTOCOL
1/ Never, ever touch your face.
2/ Use 3 facecloths to wash your face, one to soap on, one to soap off with very hot water, one to rinse off with ice cold water, in that order, once a day.
3/ If you are under 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A once a day with a full meal
4/ If you are over 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A twice a day with a full meal.
Do not get pregnant while taking vitamin A. Do not take any more, like Accutane, it will stop you growing.
5/ Never, ever. pick, squeeze or pop your spot. Read number 1 again.
6/ Do this for 90 days.
7/ Invest in a brand new pillow and 2 new or more pillow cases to double bag' your pillow. HOT wash every couple of days.

A bit of advice given to me as a teenager, a bit of science as I am studying allergic reactions and vitamin A is a part of that. A bit of research: I sat in a lecture at the back and watched the acne prone pick at their faces, those with the worse acne touched their faces 32 times in an hour, the clearest complexions didn't touch their faces even once. I have circumstantial evidence that acne is the result of dermatophyte transfer from hands to face...where it does not get washed off and is well fed by hormones, sweat a
nd oil...just a hypothesis... But it would explain why vitamin A is so effective as vitamin causes skin to remove dermatophytes.
The secret is never to touch the spots
Tips on how to treat acne and achieve perfect clear skin in as little as 7 days?

After everything that I've tried, I swear by two ingredients, apple cider vinegar & tea tree oil...
Not only does apple cider vinegar helps with acnes, they'll help reduce acne scars also. However, it smells... This is how I use it. In the evening, I washed my face real good with one of those cleansing towlette, I use Oil of Olay but that doesn't make any difference. I premix in a bottle one part vinegar to two part water (I have sensitive skin so I can't use full strength, which I don't recommend using anyway unless you're sure your skin can take it). Then while watching tv or whatever, I wet a cotton ball with the mixture and apply it all over my face, let dry, repeat, let dry, then go to sleep. It smells so I don't recommend using it in the day time.
Benzoid peroxide works in curing acne because it kills bacteria, but it slow your skin's ability to recover itself. Tea tree oil serve the same purpose in killing bacteria but it has no restriction on your skin. This is how I use it. In the morning, I wash my face with a gentle cleanser, I use the positively radiant line by Aveeno, then I wet a cotton pad (I use those round cotton pad) with water then drop 3 drops of tea tree oils directly on the pad (it's rather drying at first so I would start with one then increase as your skin adjust) then I wipe the pad all over my face, let dry while I change my clothes, etc... After 5 to 10 minutes, apply light moisturizer with spf of at least 15 and head out, once again I use the positively radiant line by Aveeno but any brands will be fine, just be sure it's gentle cleanser, & light moisturizer
Try not to wear makeup if at all possible.
Once a week, steam your face for 5 minutes to make your pore sweat out anything that's not suppose to be there.
Once a week, wear a mud mask to soak up excess sebum, oil, & dirt. I love love the rare earth masque by Kieh's, but any other brand will be just fine
Drink plenty of water throughout the day
Get 8 hrs of sleep
Be sure you go regularly

I have a treatment that has resulted in me getting the best answer four times. Each time, the user said it worked great! I'll copy and post it below.
Use a hot compress on it, and then use cool water to close the pores. Do the process over and over again, about five or six times. Use soap to wash the area, and then treat it with an alcohol soaked cotton ball. It should be gone within five to six hours.

Well if you don't want to use pills, I had moderate to sever acne like yours and then I tried Saint Ive's Apricot Scrub for acne.
It takes a while for it to start working but when it does, it really does a great job. I use it everyday and my skin is finally clear and looks really good.
I don't know if I spelled it right but you know what I mean.

my cousin also tried proactive and it made her acne worse too!!! i use this stuff called 'on the spot'. i'm not sure who manufactured it. (i'd check but i'm all out!) it works great. also, washing your face with apricot scrub gets all the dead skin off your face and it makes blemishes look less red.
