He is an indoor cat. Yesterday I opened my door and he zoomed out and ran next door where this huge dog lives. I don't know why he wants to fight with a big dog because as large as he is 26 lbs, he is still smaller than the dog next door...(approx.80 lbs) I had to get his claws out of the poor dog. Now the dog is afraid of any cat and I feel awful! Why is my cat, Little Puss acting this way? He is usually sweet and loving!

He has all sorts of toys. In fact, he has so many we put them in one room. My husband has built a kitty gym for all of them. I have 5 cats total. He has rubber balls and every kitty gizmo that you can possibly imagine. I would never be mean to my kitties or any animal. I love my cats and consider them family.

There's not much you can do really but restrain your cat or keep him away from the dog next door. Your cat is naturally dominant and wants everyone in the neighborhood to know that he is boss (hee hee hee). I did hear from somewhere that if you allow your cat to spray outside and mark his territory, this will "calm" him down somewhat becuase he knows his territory has a "label" advertizing that the place is his and "Keep out everyone!" will be observed by other animals. My big neutered 8 year old male cat does this - spray plants and trees in the yard and I've noticed that ever since he has been doing so, the racoons have kept out of our yard. But my cat is never left outside unsupervised. If walking around, I have him on halter and leash. If I leave him out there, he is in his huge outdoor enclosure... because I know he will attack any animal that ventures into our yard.

Some dogs and cats are pretty hostile with eachother.
Jeez, my cat and dog fight like...well, cats and dogs, hence the saying. My cat is very small, and my dog is four times bigger than her--but whenever the dog goes near the cat, that cat fights her like crazy.
I dont know if this is why, but the cat might be aggressive because A) he is a male. the Male cats, i believe, claim territory and all that jazz, so I THINK if you get him fixed it might stop. I'm not sure. B) your cat was afraid of the dog or felt threatened, like my cat. That seems likely, especially since the dog was bigger.
I hope that helps you! Try fussing at the cat when he attacks the dog, maybe that will teach him not to.

It sounds like your cat is bored. If he is indoors all the time with nothing to do but lay around, he has to much pent up energy. Try a cat condo with toys attached for him to attack. There are all sorts of toys that you can get that allow cats to use their normal instincts. Try a old fishing pole with a feather or anything tied at the end(take off the hook)...lol.., its fun for you too. A laser light is another option. Wear him out. It will help, or get another cat, that helps too

Uh, what is that cat's name? Little Puss? Little Puss may be upset that you named him that and may be trying to prove that he is not a Little Puss! LOL! He may have something to prove to the feline world. Can you imagine the other cats making fun of him, or maybe the dog next door? Hey, Little Puss the little wuss! LOL! Call him Mighty Puss and maybe he will simmer down a bit! Please don't be offended! LOL!

your cat is brave. I had a cat that would beat up my two dogs when she was still alive and they always backed down to her, I believe she thought she was a dog because she would even play fetch and actually bring the ball back for you to throw it again ( it was a small ball you get out of those quarter machines)

I would like to see that!
I had a very large cat at one time years ago, around the same size. She wouldnt outright attack a dog but then again she didnt take any crap from them.
