Soda is a pretty standard drink option. There's nothing wrong with it. My feeling is, if you would do it in everyday life, then it's perfect for a wedding. Too many times, people go over the top with their weddings and do things that they wouldn't otherwise do. If pop is "you," then go for it - it's your wedding and it should reflect your personality. Plus, it's nice to have an option other than alcohol for people who don't drink. I'm over 21 and don't like the taste of alcohol - soda is a nice alternative.

No it's not tacky or informal, depending on how it's served. It's all about presentation. If it's a formal wedding, have servers set up a nonalcoholic bar, serving your sodas in glasses with ice.
Personally my wedding was very formal with over 600 guests all in black tie, however it was a Rustic Louisiana themed wedding, and was in South Louisiana. So as holding with the theme and setting, an old southern plantation, we had sodas in the cans and they were iced down in a large pirougue "a small nonmotorized boat" used in swamps, which is a Louisiana specialty. We had another one with bottle beers iced down in it. It was decorated around that area with cat tails and other swampy things! It was a focal point for the wedding, so yes it may have made it a little less formal, however, it kept with the theme.
So, as long as you incorporate them with the tone of the weeding and not have it stand out and look out of place, it will be fine! If you have a particular theme, let me know I can help you with ideas!

You should always have a drink option that isnt alcoholic, its just good ettiquette.
No soda is not informal at all, as long as you arent serving it in cans.
Also, alot of mixed drinks contain soda so you will want to make sure you have it.

I'll tell you I wish it had been an option at some of the weddings I've been to. Paying $5 for a watered down soda from the bar just doesn't cut it.

I'll be serving it. There are younger people at weddings as well as those old enough to legally enjoy alcoholic beverages. Its not tacky. Most people prefer soda to punch and water.

I was just at a wedding yesterday... There was no pop there, and I was ready to harm someone for some pop. So yes... serve it. The guests will appreciate it. Especially if there's no alcohol...;)

Soda is fine. Make sure you have some diet, and other options. It is not to informal. Keep in mind no matter what you have you will always have that one person that wants something you don't have available. Don't let that get to you!

As long as its not the only option! If its one of many choices.. like water, beer, wine, champagne, soda. Best advice have a open cash bar and let everyone make their own decision as to whats tasteful /not!

I used sparkling grape juice at my reception. It was still fancy, but non-alcoholic. Don't worry about soda being "ghetto". It's your day, do whatever you want. Some people have a potluck reception, now if they ain't ghetto....just kidding. Who cares about being ghetto? I was worried about the price..

It's perfect. I personally don't like to drink anything but water and pop. This gives variety. Plus its your wedding. Who cares what other people think.
