A lobster consists of a number of edible sections.
The greeny-grey (or 'brown') stuff inside the lobster is called the tomalley, and is the Lobster's liver, or more accurately, its digestive system. Some people consider it a delicacy. The red stuff that is sometimes seen inside a lobster are immature, unfertilized eggs. Although red after cooking, before they are cooked, the eggs are black. The eggs are also called spawn, roe, or coral. It's caviar to lobster enthusiasts. Hope that helps!

That's the lobsters liver or digestive system. Commonly called tomalley, it is safe to eat but since it is the liver it would most likely be the waste basket for all the toxins circulating through the creature so you may want to just discard it and move on to the good stuff.
