If you are stabbed in the abdomen, how long do you usually have before you die?

I'm writing a story and I want to be accurate.

what if my character plunged his sword into the back guy and took it back out.
How long then?

It all depends on the depth of the wound. A very large and deep laceration will kill a person within a minute.

A person could survive a few days, with out medical treatment, from a stab wound dependent on where and what it hit in the stomach.
However if there is multiple stab wounds and they involve an injury to the liver or spleen etc, the death of the victim could be quick without medical treatment.

it depends, if u penatrate an artery, u will bleed out and ur abdomen will become ridged, an can die in a matter of minutes. if not the bowels will be preferated, an the contents of the bowels will flow out on the outside of ur bowels an it will cause an infection, an operation to repair it. and u will have to wear a bag for a few mo. then have another operation, to remove the bag, so u can poop again. that is if the infection dont kill u first. its not a pretty picture. i hope this helps in writing ur story. god bless

in the event that they left the object interior the heart and it wasent deep enoguh or if it wasent an prompt hit then they mightt be able to assert some words in a wisper besides the undeniable fact that the blood could be everywere! XD

Depends on where in the abdomen if it hits an artery or vein or organ, plus what kind of knife is used and how deep.

hitting the person's liver might just give the person at least 15 minutes to live,,,,
