My OS is Windows 2000. This seemed to happen when trying to download ViviCam software. I was told to reboot my system, now it shows a purple/pink background with no icons, start button or way to get into anything except through the task manager. I've run my spyware and anti virus software, but nothing is helping. I get a message when clicking task manager saying, " the application or DLLC:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\browseuidll is not a valid Windows image." What does that mean?

Hit F8 on boot up and choose last known good configuation. If it persists, it's your video card.

I think the first thing I would try is go into safe mode (restart your computer and hit the F8 key). Then if you get your Win2K to come up there, uninstall the ViviCam software and see if you get your operating system back.
Could be that the software won't work with Win2K.
If this ViviCam software is for a Digital Still Camera, you may be safer getting a card reader and downloading your pictures that way.

I suggest that you simply carry out a system restore to a date when the computer was working normally with out such problems. This should undo the changes that have taken place and the PC should work normally. If you find some problem after system restore you have options to revert back or chose another date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html Subsequently you install astandard antivirus and an antispyware

I have no idea what that could be but the part where you said its pink ish purple makes me think its a video card problem...just a thought.....try rebooting if you havent already.

also if you post the whole error message i bet i could find the solution on a forum somewhere...im sure someone else has had the same problem.
