If you're asking about how long the scars will last, they'll slowly fade from angry-red to barely-noticeable pale white. This will take three to six years.
If you're asking for help with stopping the urge to cut, there is help out there. Often the cutting is what people do when the stress from something else (could be family problems, could be an eating disorder, could be grief, could be lots of things) is overwhelming. The cutting makes the other stuff hurt less. Sorta.
I think in the long run you will have to give up a little privacy and reach out to someone to get outside help. It's scary. And sometimes the first person you try to get help from doesn't understand or can't help, and you have to open yourself up to someone new. Ouch. Worth it in the long run.
Here's a couple of links. do searches on "self-cutting" and you'll find more. Sorry these say "kids health" on them. I'm not trying to say you're a kid, its just that the people who wrote these pages seem to "get it" better than some of the other pages I looked at.

It depends how deep the cuts are and how often you cut over the same area. The chances are you will have life long scars if this has been a habit.

Will WHAT ever go? I think you are confused, or at best fragmented. If you really wanted your cuts to be part of your "personal life", you wouldn't cut exposed skin, or you would hide them to keep people from asking, and you wouldn't be asking the question here.
Duh! So what's the REAL point of your question?

my friend used to. its been quite a while now, and her scars just faded away...they do go away, it just takes a long time.
and good job at not letting people pry into your personal life..things would only get worse.

I used to have the same problem. I still have a LOT of my scars. what will help reduce it are creams like neosporin, etc.
good luck... it's a hard habit to break. but you should. its always hard to explain away.

Nope..they will always be there. I use to burn myself but I stopped and now I have a reminder of how my life use to be.
