Unless your veterinarian said that you could, I would say no. If he is acting okay, he will be okay without it.

Absolutely NOT. These are made for people and there is no way you could get the dose small enough for a puppy. A cough and runny nose in animals can be a respiratory infection and not necessarily a cold, that's probably why your vet has him on antibiotics and antibiotics are not effective on colds. Talk to your vet before you do anything like this.

I would speak with your veterinarian- or find a vet that does a combination of western and eastern medicine. Ask about the correct dosage and recommended way- you will likely not get him to take it as tea, so pills are the way to go- to administer. Some vitamins should or should not be given in conjuction with food as it affects the ability to digest the herb.
That being said, I personally, though I subscribe to a combination of western and eastern medicin, believe that in this case sticking with the antibiotics is better off. The antibiotics are more to ensure that he does not develop a secondary bacterial infection in addition to his current viral infection.

I would look in a pet store for a pet version of it before giving you puppy human echinacea. If you cannot find it I would ask an animal specialist at PetSmart or Petco. I think that you shouldnt use human medicine on pets it has different effects on animals.

Truly, I think Puppies are. But maybe I'll change that when one day I have a child. But I think Toddlers are *cuter* then puppies. A dog is a dog, and shouldn't be put over humans. Ask yourself this, if a baby and a puppy was drowning, which one would you save? Chuckles

Never give a pet human medication. You would be surprised and maybe saddened to learn the results. Animals have entirely different systems than humans and can be killed by foods, medications, etc. than humans can take without a problem.
ALWAYS CHECK WITH A VET BEFORE YOU GIVE YOUR PET ANY MEDICATIONS OR HERB TREATMENTS.

You should not give any human medication or vitamins to a dog without first consulting your Vet.

just stick with what your vet gave him. those other human vitamins and remedies could interact with the antibiotics. just stick to giving what your vet reccomends. good luck.

Check with your vet. Only certain supplements are tested on canines to check their reaction. Also dosing will be different for dogs. Please don't take a chance. If he's doing well don't mess with him.
