I always see in television and commercials people sleeping on their back. I just don't know how they do it, I can't sleep any other way but sideways or crashed face down. Is it bad/wierd to not sleep on your back? I'm just curious for some sudden non-apparent reason.

I sleep on my back a fair amount in the summertime, if I do not have the air conditioning on, and it is quite warm. When I am really cold, I tend to sleep on my stomach. If it is neither hot nor cold, I can be comfortable sleeping on my side.

In commercials, people have to sleep so that you can see their faces, because even in sleep, the face communicates a lot (and I am sure that the advertisers hope for better sales with the face showing, because of that increase in communication). There are lots of other unrealistic things on television, too. And, when you sleep, I hope that you do not even dream of trying to do the things that are in some of the more fantastic commercials! People cannot even do some of them safely. : c )

Happy New Year, and have a restful and relaxing 2007!

Hahahahahahaaaa! Just last week I saw an OLD movie where a woman tells a child to roll over onto her back so as "not to tempt the devil".. not sure what that means though! ahahahahahaaa!

I used to sleep on my stomach... then on my side... sometimes I sleep on my back but I wake up the neighbors with my snoring (hahaahahahaa! Just kidding!)

I sleep on my stomach too. It is just a personal choice but it could also be how you slept when you were younger. Most parents tried to make babies sleep on their back in case of SIDS (sudden infant death sydrome) and choking most I kept turning over. Also some people say people that sleep on their stomachs are pessimistic, close-minded and rude but that is the total opposite of me. Happy New Year!!

It is neither odd nor bad. The only way I can sleep is curled up on my side or rolled up in a ball. I can not sleep on my back.

No sleeping on your back makes you snore anyway. I always sleep on my side. I think they have people sleep on their backs for commercials because of the shot.

Your side is actually recommended if you have back problems. Or on your back with your knees elevated. Face down is bad for the back because of the lack of spinal support.

Not really. Unhealthy to sleep on your stomach because it puts pressure on your internal organs (skin is an organ. . .I have to be specific). Also, if you sleep in one position for too long, u can get bed sores. Good to move around too. . .(this applies if you sleep for more than a day)

I don't know if it is odd or not but I can't do it either. I've heard thaqt you will have less age lines if you sleep on your back and even that does not help me. I don't know but it is very uncomfortable. So I guess me and my age lines will have to be very happy together.

The only thing I know it does is cause creases in your face later on when you are older when you sleep on your side. I have one starting along the left side of my face and my boss is getting one too.

I never can sleep on my back. I always sleep on my left side or my stomach and occasionally my right side. I don't think there's anything harmful about it.
