There are several breeds of dogs that are less likely to bother people with allergies. Bichons, poodles, Shih Tzus, and several other long haired breeds do not shed and leave less dander than other dogs. Those are the two major causes of dog allergies in people.

They don't. There is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog. They allergic reaction can be less than a normal dog, but there still may be an allergic reaction. The have less dander and hair, but they still shed a little and produce dander.

What katslookup said is what i have been told. My mom is highly allergic to most dogs but is ok with bichons, poodles & cocker spaniels.
