If you have a special occasion coming up, or you simply need to lose weight fast, the Cabbage Soup Diet may be just what you're looking for. Although not suitable for long-term weight loss, the Cabbage Soup Diet is a low-fat, high-fiber diet that will help you get into shape fast before you embark on a more moderate long-term eating plan.
Pros and Cons of the Cabbage Soup Diet
Pros: You'll lose weight fast, and can get as much of the foods listed in the program as you want. Although the diet is only for seven days (and shouldn't be adhered to for longer), it provides a great "kick-start" for a more moderate diet.
Cons: Some people find the soup bland. Some people have reported feeling light-headed, weak, and have suffered from decreased concentration (although some who have been affected in this way felt it was well worth it, since it was only for a week and they had lost considerable weight).
What the Cabbage Soup Diet is NOT
The cabbage soup diet is sometimes referred to as the "Mayo Clinic Diet", and the "Sacred Heart Hospital Diet". Interestingly, this diet has nothing to do with either the Mayo Clinic, nor any Sacred Heart Hospital we know about.
The Problem With Most "Mainstream" Diets
Most diets - especially "mainstream" diets, and those recommended by major medical institutions - work slowly but surely, resulting in around 1 pound of weight loss per week.
This "slow and steady" way to lose weight is certainly healthy, but suffers from one significant drawback : most people get discouraged and quit whatever diet they are on if they don't see results quickly.
Seven Keys to Success
Follow the diet religiously.
Drink at least 4 glasses of water per day
Keep in mind that it's only seven days
Complement the diet with a good multivitamin tablet
Print the information on this site so you can refer to it daily
Eat plenty of soup - as much as you want! Do not try to starve yourself or you'll probably cheat and break the diet
Try different spices to liven up the soup and add variety
THE DIET
Day One:
Fruit: Eat all of the fruit you want (except bananas). Eat only your soup and the fruit for the first day. For drinks- unsweetened teas, cranberry juice and water.
Day Two:
Vegetables: Eat until you are stuffed will all fresh, raw or cooked vegetables of your choice. Try to eat leafy green vegetables and stay away from dry beans, peas and corn. Eat all the vegetables you want along with your soup. At dinner, reward yourself with a big baked potato with butter. Do not eat fruit today.
Day Three:
Mix Days One and Two: Eat all the soup, fruits and vegetables you want. No Baked Potato.
Day Four:
Bananas and Skim Milk: Eat as many as eight bananas and drink as many glasses of skim milk as you would like on this day, along with your soup. This day is supposed to lessen your desire for sweets.
Day Five:
Beef And Tomatos: Ten to twenty ounces of beef and up to six fresh tomtoes. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water this day to wash the uric acid from your body. Eat your soup at least once this day. You may eat broiled or baked chicken instead of beef (but absolutely no skin-on chicken). If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef one one of the beef days (but not both).
Day Six:
Beef and Vegetables: Eat to your heart's content of beef and vegetables this day. You can even have 2 or 3 steaks if you like, with leafy green vegetables. No Baked Potato. Eat your soup at least once.
Day Seven:
Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables: Again stuff, stuff, stuff yourself. Be sure to eat your soup at least once this day

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

as u may know, xlax are to help u temp. to move ur bowels. it is not a weight loss treatment. it just elimnates the feces, and water just temp.an if u continue to use exlax to lose weight, u will find that they can become habit forming, and ur bowels will not move with out taking a laxitive, an can cause diverticalitis, a condition that would require u to have part of ur colen taken out. so please, dont take them to louse weight. god bless.

Do you really want to use that to lose weight? Unless you want to be dehydrated, you can do it. But be prepared to go to the hospital.
No. Xlax is not intended to lose weight. Please, be aware of what you are doing to yourself. There is no healthy way to loose weight the "easy" way or very fast. You will only hurt yourself.
Eat good food, don't eat junk food (hamburgers, etc.), DON'T use pills to loose fat or loose weight, just do it the natural way: doing exercise and eating WELL. Eating well, because if you don't eat, you will get so weak that you will have to go to the hospital too.
Good luck on your "loose fat" journey!!

Well, basically it's the equivilent of being bulimic, only it's out the other end. Yeah, you might lose some pounds, but your body becomes dependant on the laxitive. So, if you want to lose weight that badly, then you have to be prepared to not be able to poo without it.

Well youre going to have to start counting calories sadly. Eat anything (except fatty foods) and eat 500 calories for breakfast, 300 for lunch, and 500 at dinner, and 200 for a small snack. Exercise on a machiene untill you burn about 200 or more calories. Eat at subway alot. GOOD LUCK!

Kayla is right. You can become dependent on laxatives and not be able to have a bowel movement without them. If you want to lose weight, exercise and diet are the best way.

it makes you poop everything you eat. this is a bad idea as a weight control method for 2 reasons. 1. when you use laxatives too often your body does not absorb the nutrients it needs to be healthy so you can become anemic or vitamin deficient. 2. the muscle that controls your colon (that holds your poopie) will become soft and then what will happen is that you will not be able to control your bowel movements and will end up having to use diapers.

It doesnt. Thats really not the most healthy way to loose weight. Heres a simple idea: Calories=energy. If you take in more calories than you burn you gain weight, If you burn more calories than you take in, you loose weight. Exercise. Simple as that. Good luck.

It will make you lose weight, but in the long run you will actually gain(the health risks) because when you take them for so long they will quit working and you will put the weight back on. Sometimes plus. Please it is not worth it!
