Only ONE thing will keep a person from eternity with God: denying Christ as their personal Savior. Some faiths believe certain sins will send one to hell. The Bible doesn't say that.

You'll probably hear lots of "no" answers.
The problem is that many people fail to recognize that there is such a thing as "mental illness", but it's real. Depression and Bipolar disorder are two diseases which often result in suicide. In these cases, suicide is not a rational act, and not rationally arrived at. It is merely a final symptom and the result of a disease. Even in Christian theology, with most learned preachers, it is not considered sinful in this case.
Some though, commit suicide as a means of escape from debt or trouble. In these cases, it is not an illness, but a conscious decision made to relieve oneself from consequences of their actions.
Still, I'm not a Christian, and don't believe in "heaven and hell", but my thoughts on the matter are similar. I believe that chronic illness, such as mental illness are trials we are here to learn from. Again, suicide is part of that illness in many cases. In the case of escape, we are merely making a very temporary escape as in our next life we will likely return to suffer the same problems we failed to learn from.

Believing in a just and merciful God who died for our sins is not a "get out of jail" card. Playing with definitions and semantics I think is a part time job for some of the yahoosers with religious questions. It's like a bunch of bored lawyers are sitting around saying "Well technically can we get way with-------------- and ----------- or ----------"? If you're a Christian and you believe that Jesus is the Messiah, you have grace, if you don't , I leave that up to God to do decide what to do with you, after all it's God's job to decide, not mine

No man nor women is the judge of that. But, Jesus didn't put you on this earth to kill yourself, he wants you to spread the truth, get others to become Christians. I've been a Christian since I was young, don't let anything take control of you, and whatever you do, don't kill yourself.

The only thing that prevents someone from going to heaven is not believing in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. If someone has made a decision to accept Christ as their savior--nothing can cheapen that decision. To say that you go to hell based on actions after salvation basically says, "Jesus the cross wasn't enough-- do it again!!"

It is true that no one has come back to tell us. I think that it has alot to do with your believes. My religion says that it is an unforgivable sin to take the life that God gave you. What does your religion say? You are only forgiven for the sins if you ask, if you are dead you can't ask to be forgiven.

Yes, but only if you repent of your sins. That's what the Bible says. A person who committed suicide did not repent of his sin but committing another sin deliberately by killing himself , thus transgressing the 6th commandment without having a chance to repent of it. If he repented , he would have stopped committing it.

it is tough to say. some Christians I know say that you go straight to hell if you kill yourself. Some say you go to hell ONLY if you do not believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. I say, that if you believe in Christ and you kill yourself, it won't take you into hell. I know a friend in church who knew someone that killed themselves TO go to heaven because the were not happy with their lives on earth. It's tough to say.

Would you have time to ask for forgiveness?? Why would you want to die?? Nothing is worth killing yourself for...It is not God's will that any should perish...Jesus came that we may have LIFE and life more abundantly...killing yourself is saying that you do not believe that Jesus is who He says He is or was sent to do what He said He would do. Stay encouraged!!! Please e-mail me if you would like to talk more...

i was thinking about this the other day actually.
no, suicide is a sin.
after you are saved and you commit a sin, you must repent, which is basically saying you are sorry and meaning it, to God.
since suicide is a sin, and you would ultimately die after it, you can't repent, meaning you would end up in hell.
if you want to know more, email me.
