My friend is having a party for the New Year. I don't want to be in the house but i don't want to be uncomfortable either. i don't go out much and my friend will be the host so he won't be there to fill the comfort zone! Should i go and if so give me some tips to mingle please...the party is less than an hour from now! I am semi sociable but i freeze up when i don't know anyone!

Go, have fun. You don't have to talk to everyone or be the social butterfly. Just be yourself, I'm a people watcher and I think they are funny to watch and interesting. So, just have a coctail if you do that sort of thing and find a comfortable spot to hang and just wait to see who comes over. Oh, someone will and then just talk. Mostly people like to talk about themselves so, asking wuestions to keept hem talking about themselves is all you need to do. The rest will be ok. then just enjoy, have fun and take deep breaths when you start to feel uptight. Most people are like you. they just don't tell anyone. When you get to know people they are different and we are all just the same. Alone until we talk to someone else. Have fun. Happy New Yr.

If you really want to go, try calling another one of your friends and seeing if they'll go with you. If someone else can't come with you, go alone and ask the host to introduce you to someone else who is alone and see if you can get along with them. If that doesn't work just walk around talking to people who look interesting and try not to get too stressed out about it. Just have fun and if you end up sitting in a corner all alone, some kind soul will eventually come talk to you!

Okay , I know exactly what you are talking, Yes you should denfnitely go, and u should dress to impress. remember your friend is the host, but he will show up from time to time. remember people are not all going to stay all night either way, remember to think of people as your audience, and once that's done the crowd is yours.it's a good way for you to start making new relationship happen that will lead to exciting new year, Happy New Year, and good luck.

Just go. Have a couple of drinks and chill out.

I get nervous socially, but you have to practice. That is what I do.

I am going alone to a party tonight. I think it will be fun!

Guess what? I have talked to my good friends about "freezing up" and they say they get scared sometimes too..

You may even meet someone there!

Relax and try to have fun. I wish I could get out tonight and go somewhere but I can't which sucks because of my car. But talk about the night and what do you expect for 2007 and stuff like that I mean you can't ask a stupid question remember that

If y'all are just friends and there is no feelings involved, then you could possibly take someone else.
