Johnson & Johnson No more tangles sahmpoo works great and is safe. Also if there are mats already and they aren't wound too tight against the skin rubbing plain cornstarch into the mat and letting it sit for a while will help take the mat out..just simply comb.

As a professional pet groomer with 18 years experiance, please DO NOT use products on your animals unless it specifically states on the bottle that it is meant for this species. Many animals have died and become very ill this way.
A long haired cat requires daily brushing. Cats lick themselves and are grooming themselves, but the undercoat can sometimes become tangled and mat. If you can't manage to brush the cat daily, perhaps think about taking him to the groomer once a month to be bathed and brushed out professionally. This will avoid the entire matting problem and any unwanted shave downs.

Your cat may do this on his/her own but it is best to groom them so no fur balls in throat.
There is a detangler at the pet shop you can buy that is safe for you critter, there are also formulas made for white, and different colored coats. We would buy this stuff in bilk when grooming.
Do get some fur ball stuff if you do not groom on a regular basis just in case.

I have a Maine Coone Cat. She gets so many matts I couldn't keep up with them. I purchased the Johnson product for babies and small children, "No More Tangles". I sprayed her with it and watched her closely for a few days. I had removed all the matts she had prior to treating her coat with the NMT and she has been tangle free ever since.

the final suggestion i'd desire to provide you is, interior the cat's contemporary situation, enable a expert puppy groomer freshen up your cat, then set up a familiar grooming habitual at homestead to maintain the mats away. The groomer can decrease the mats out and shrink the hair short so it somewhat is going to be extra convenient to attend to. Then, you will desire to sweep or comb your cat daily! i admire combing as a results of fact it gets all the way down to the exterior extremely of basically brushing the hair on ideal. you may %. the mats out, even inspite of the shown fact that it somewhat is painful and your cat won't take exhilaration in it so i could definiltey call a groomer and notice what they are able to do for you. additionally, do not bathe your cat till you get the mats out. Wetting them will basically reason the mats to get tighter and extra durable to get out. while the groomer cuts them out, they are going to use clippers not scissors to stay away from reducing your cat's dermis.

Mats can be gently pulled apart using your fingers. I wouldn't use any type of commercial product on his fur that's not meant for animals. These type of products are not meant to be ingested and could possibly be poisonous or make him very sick. If the mats got too bad, you'd have to take him to a vet and have him shaved. Brushing a long-haired cat fairly often would prevent the problem and reduce possible hairballs.

I have actually seen a "grooming spray" for use on dogs which does that, you would have to read the label to see if it's safe for cats.

Your best bet is to get
some olive oil and rub
on the cat and comb its
hair,
At least the cat can lick the
oil which will clean his mouth.
ok...
