I understand what you mean about getting older. It seems like I personally am in the rut of going to work, going home, going to work, going home....it is more difficult to make friends when you are older, especially if you are single, because there are so many couples that do couple things, and it is so easy to be busy doing work stuff. The friends I have are either old friends (not too many because I have moved a lot) or parents of my kid's friends. It is hard. I am separated, and I am pretty much alone tonight too. I do have my 16 year old at home, and that helps.
You never know what the next year will bring. Don't beat yourself up because you are in the same rut that so many others are in (but few will admit to).

I think there are lots of people like you. It is true that the older we get, the harder it is to be in the middle of things socially. However, don't despair, and don't feel like a loser. Begin to seriously look for a companion or for friends to do things with - even if it is to sit home and play Scrabble and drink coffee. Things can and will improve - the first step is the hardest. The good thing these days is that there is always someone to talk to on the Internet if you want to. Take care.

I'm right there with you. My boyfriend and I had a fight and he's ignoring me. I should have made plans with friends but here I am. If he doesn't apologize soon, I'll be making plans for next weekend without him. Life is way too short to be in a rut. You're not alone and you're not a loser. We just haven't made the right choices to make us happy. Let the New Year begin with a resolve to change that. Happy New Year...out with the old and in with the new!

I do not consider myself in a rut. I NEVER went out on New Years. I do not drink. So what am I going to do? I tried to go to theme parks such as Universal Studios on new years. But THOUSANDS of people showed up, so you had to wait HOURS to get into anything.
THAT was no fun at all.
I am 54. Married 30 years.
PS Happy New Year. We both will NOT watch the ball fall.

in my opinion speaking, i think of it makes you smarter than something. lots of inebriated drivers are on the hiways in the process the hot 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. enable's basically say that I even have been staying homestead on New 3 hundred and sixty 5 days's eve on the grounds that I knew that i'd desire to be leaving little ones ( and grandchildren ) in the back of........ For me, staying up previous the want to bypass to mattress isn't substantial.....inspite of the shown fact that i'm oftentimes a "night" individual.

yeah, we are all here as you can see. i'm 10 years younger than you but 2 years ago i made a decision to never go partying on New years' eve because i always want to make it into the new year. A lot people die on new years' eve because there alot of idiots out there that get out of control.
just have fun and invite some Friends over. have a partying in your house with a few close friends,it's better than partying with a million strangers.

Why on earth would you feel like a loser?
It seems the older we get ... the less it matters. I'm 44 and I do drink .. a bit, but, it doesn't bother me that I'm staying home on NYE. As long as I have the ones that matter the most to me close by ... I'm a happy woman. :)
Cheer up k ... it's not such a big deal.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!

YOU, are the winner here! IMHO.
While I have to work in the morning, me thinks the wise folk stay home and enjoy the evening!
There are way too many drunks on the road tonight! Stay home and enjoy tomorrow!
Too many will not have that advantage, tomorrow.
God Bless and Happy New Year!
