"Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?" 1 Corinthians 11:14
Why do churches always display Jesus as having long hair? Since the Christians claim to have read the Bible front to back, they KNOW that if a man has long hair, he is sinning. So why do they still allow people to draw Jesus with long hair? Either the Christians, the Bible, or both are lying.

Images of Jesus with long hair are based on the 'Image not made with Hands' discovered in Armenia during the reign of the Emperor Justinian. Traditional icons of Jesus show him with shoulder-length hair pulled back into a pony-tail. This hair style was common in first-century Palestine, and accords with images of Jewish men painted on synagogue walls.
The question is, how long is long? When Paul wrote that verse to the Corinthians, there was a prominent sect of transvestites running around Jerusalem. Jewish women wore long hair - not just shoulder length, but very long hair, down the middle of the back.

The scriptures ARE literal and Jesus did have long hair because of the fact he became a Nazarene and all Nazarenes have been traditionally trouble-free to have long hair. in spite of the undeniable fact that, I ought to accept as true with the different placed up that asserts that it relatively is a mistranslation, and that "long" isn't the perfect adjective for use. you ought to bear in mind that the bible became no longer written in english so some issues get a sprint humorous.

So you're blaming all christianity for artists rendering of Christ? Sure, that's makes total sense, we should censor all artists and writers. Please, get real.
Jewish men of that time usually had short cropped hair and beards, so Jesus probably did too. The fact that artists tend to make him with long hair just means that that's they way they see Him. If you don't like it, paint your own picture of what you think He looks like, I'll guarantee someone will challenge it, there's always someone to challenge everything, or should that be censored too?

I doubt that Jesus had long hair. Artists can depict Jesus anyway they desire and do. Unfortunately, in many cases, they depict Him in the way early, European artists did.....a Caucasian with long hair.
Christians are not responsible for everything. That even includes religious art.

"But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her." 1Corinthians11:15
Yeah, I also doubt if Jesus had long hair. I bet he had sort of a Pat Robertson-type do. Maybe with a touch of hair spray to keep it neat. Or maybe a shaved head! Yeah, that's what I vote for . . . . Jesus with a shaved head.
