the bread has more moisture and the cookies take the moisture from the bread. Thats why the breaf becomes stale first. try it. It really does work.

The bread helps by absorbing moisture because that is what makes the cookies stale.

the yeast in the bread is held in by the bag and surrounds the cookies and helps preserve them =)
