I have a great recipe for making fried green tomatos but am searching for a recipe for a dipping sauce to go with them. Any suggestions?

How about a remoulade?

1 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons minced red onion
2 tablespoons capers, chopped
2 tablespoons finely chopped red bell pepper
2 tablespoons finely chopped yellow bell pepper
2 teaspoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Salt and black pepper
Cayenne pepper
Tabasco sauce

Combine the mayonnaise, onion, capers, red and yellow peppers, garlic, and lemon juice in a bowl.

Add salt, black pepper, cayenne, and Tabasco sauce to taste.

Mix thoroughly and refrigerate.

Nicely-timed question. I just made some fried tomatoes (not green, but) and they seemed to require something. I tried a creamy salad dressing -- not quite, though a better dressing might've worked. And guacamole, which wasn't bad, but not something I'd repeat.

The answer turns out to be aioli.

The stuff was begging for garlic anyway...

This

is the recipe I used.

Predictably, fried green tomatoes with aioli has been blogged about; see

Why would you want to screw up the great natural flavor of fried green tomatoes. That would be like putting steak sauce on a good T-bone!!

Quick Basil Mayonnaise
1/2 cup mayonnaise
4 to 8 fresh basil leaves
Sea salt, to taste
Freshly ground pepper, to taste

Combine mayonnaise and basil in a blender or food processor; puree. Stir in sea salt and pepper; chill in an airtight container until ready to serve.

(You could also shmear the basil-mayo on ciabatta bread, add cooked bacon, fresh basil leaves & the fried green tomatoes - YUM!)

i think maybe a spicy, chipotle dip or maybe something lighter like an oil-based dip....but personally, i love my fried green tomatoes with a sprinkle of salt and that's it...yum yum.

My kids think that ranch dressing is a food group, and they would tell you to use that! I mix plain yogurt with lemon juice and ranch dressing mix. Either use half the ranch dressing mix packet or twice the amount of yogurt (it calls for sour cream, but I like the yogurt better)

I was going to suggest a pepper laced mayo but I got to tell you that first remoulade sounds pretty good to me. I would give that a whirl. I am going to give that person a thumbs up.
Happy New Year!

make your own.........take your blender, add the yolks of eggs, a pinch of salt and white pepper, add a small can of green chopped chilies, the juice of one lime, tabassco sauce ( how much is up to you) drizzle olive oil while the blender is running on low, enought to make a cup and a half.

I like my green tomotoes without any sauce. I guess it depends on your taste. What sauce do you use for other snacks? Try that one.
