I really want to believe but somehow logically it seems there are a lot of holes, even in the bible, that prove Jesus to be God. And if Jesus were God then why didn't he ever just out-right say, "I am God."

Great question. I'm not going to be able to give you tons of places to look, but to think of a few.

Start with Isaiah 53. No, it does not mention Jesus specifically but it tells of His coming. There are over 100 places in the old testament which mention the coming of Christ, but they aren't as "slap in the face" apparent as mainstream people need.

If you are serious in your search for Jesus, then keep at it. It's not always like a light switch that is easy to turn on. Think of it like learning a new subject which takes some time and commitment.

And then you'll discover Jesus all over the place. Remember Jesus didn't start when born from Mary, he has ALWAYS existed. (Hard thing to swallow, I know.)

Also, you might want to expand your reading past the Bible. There is a book called the Case for Christ which I've heard is quite good. From what I do know, the author was an atheist trying to prove against Jesus but because of the facts became so overwhelmed that he couldn't not believe.

Remember, the Bible was given to mankind as the Word of God. It does not have all-inclusive knowledge of God. That would be too much for us to handle.

Dear Freddy,

I'm so glad that you asked. Yes, there are many references.
If you really want to believe then tell the awesome uncreated Creator of the universe just that. Just let Him help you to know Him.

Were you aware that there were more than 300 prophecies regarding the Savior in the Hebrew scriptures? Jesus the Christ was the only person who ever had his entire biography written BEFORE He was ever born!

For a really good listing of traits that God and Jesus share go to http://www.soulright.com
There you will find the chart One Truth Exposes a Thousand Lies, Traits Shared Between Jehovah and Jesus.

I do not know Greek unfortunately but I have learned from others that the Pharisees wanted to put Jesus to death because he was talking God-talk. He forgave sins and cured the blind and healed the lame. He claimed to be the way, the truth and the light. He accepted worship.

Some really good books that you might find helpful:

No he's not. It change into in no way suggested contained in the Jewish Torah that the Jewish messiah change into to be the son of G--d. The practise from which a g-d being 0.5 guy is derived from fallen historic religions. The Christian's e book of the former testomony is a incorrect translation of the Jewish Torah. This christains previous testement is an interpretation pave the way for a guy-g-d savior, a lifeless ringer for a pharaoh.

Jesus is not God. God is god. There is only one maker, God. You will not find any references in the old test about Jesus because he didnt come along until the new test. I dont believe that Jesus was anything more than a good Jewish man. He is not the only son of God, we all are. He is not the messiah, there is no world peace and never has been world peace which is nesassary as a fufillment of a messiah. God told the Hebrews in the OT to not worship any sculpture or statue and to only worship him, that would make worshiping a sculpture of JC a sin.

One of the people who answered wrote "I and my Father are one."

Jesus is the Word.

There's a verse that says, in I John 5: 7:
"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

"I and my Father are one." I looked it up, my concordance says John 10: 30.

I guess then you could ask, how do you know God is the Father? I don't know where that is, but I know God is the Father.

I guess he didn't say say those exact words, "I am God", but the verses above mean that Jesus is God.

I just thought of how you could ask, how do you know Jesus is the Word? I just heard it somewhere, don't know if I could point to it in the Bible. But it might just be that clues(don't really want to use the word 'clues") were given for people to understand from the Bible that the Word was referring to Jesus.

Yes, there are many!

In the beginning, when God created the Heavens and the earth, you will notice as you read, that God refers to Himself as "Us".

Genesis (1, 26) - And He (God) said "Let "us" make man to "our" own image and likeness."....etc....

Genesis (1,27) "and God created man to His own image; to the image of God He created Him; male and female He created them".

.
This is the holy trinity, The Father, the Son, and the Holy spirit. And in His pro-creation, which he shares with us, there is another holy trinity, a holy created trinity of husband, wife and offspring equally as sacred called marriage.

Jesus is not just the son of God - He IS God.
Jesus is not just our savior, He is also our maker.

The next proof - The greatest Messianic prophet in the old testament is Isaiah. His many references to the Messiah (Christ), His mission, HIs sufferings, and His death are uncannily accurate - e.g. Isaiah (7, 14) - "Well then, the Lord Himself will give you a sign; a young woman who is pregnant will have a son and name Him Immanuel".

(Immanuel means God with us).

Isaiah (9, 6-7) - "A child is born to us, a Son is given to us, and He will be our ruler. He will be called wonderful, counselor, mighty God, eternal Father, Prince of Peace"
"His royal power will continue to grow, His kingdom will always be at peace. He will rule as King David's successor, basing his power on right and justice; from now until the end of time. The Lord Almight is determined to do all this".

(clearly stated here is the birth, divine dignity and everlasting rule of Christ. Elsewhere in Isaiah is stated His death).

"They have pierced My hands and My feet, they have numbered all my bones".

That is his suffering and death. But the above clearly states that He will live forever! Clearly indicating His ressurection from His brief death. Everyone of Isaiah's 50 or so propechies about Christ has come true. The mathematical chances of this happening are beyond human imagination. Those predictions were made 750 years before Christ.

There are other prophets in the old testmanet whom have also made various prophecies about the coming divine Messiah.

Also, you said "If Jesus were God, then why didn't he ever just out-right say "I' am God".

He did state this clearly, which was why He was crucified in the first place. He claimed to be the son of the God! Not only did He say this, He also said "The Father and I are one"! hence, the reference above with Isaiah's list of Messianic titles, was "Eternal Father" (referring to Christ Himself).

Holy Trinity, of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, are One God, or three persons within in God, are all identified with God.

Christians call it "the mystery of the blessed trinity". Hence Jesus' comment "I and the Father are one".

This was why He was crucified, as the leaders of the church in those days, took this as blasphemy that any "man" dare to call himself God should be put to death. They did not know whom they were truly crucifying.

I hope that helps :)

Christians will say "yes," but this is because the "Old Testament" in their Bible was often mistranslated to make it seem as if it was referencing Jesus.

The fact is: the only possible reference to Jesus in the Hebrew Scriptures is the warning about following false prophets.

As to other replies (separated by -------------------):
---------------------------
>god said to jesus let us make man in our image

G-d was speaking to the angels, not to Jesus.
--------------------

>yes. Isaiah 9:6

Isaiah 9:6 is in reference to Hezekiah, not Jesus. Many Hebrew names contain the name of God, yet these names are simply giving tribute to G-d. The names don't mean that the person is G-d.

By the way, the name Hezekiah means "mighty G-d."

Hezekiah saved his kingdom and Jerusalem from King Sennacherib with G-d's help. (2 Kings 19:20, 21, 34) And Hezekiah's reign was peaceful after this (ibid 20:19-20). He was an adviser (2 Chron. 30:2). Wondrous; G-d made the sun go backwards when Hezekiah was cured of his illness (Isaiah 38:7-9).
---------------------

>Start with Isaiah 53. No, it does not mention Jesus specifically
>but it tells of His coming.

Isaiah 53 is about ISRAEL, the suffering servant.

Even if some parts of Isaiah 53 describe a suffering messiah it is not Jesus of Nazareth. Isaiah 49 eliminates Jesus of Nazareth completely from being Isaiah 53 as he was never a "servant of rulers."

>There are over 100 places in the old testament which mention
>the coming of Christ, but they aren't as "slap in the face"
>apparent as mainstream people need.

This is a good example of what I originally said: people looking for Jesus where he doesn't exist. If you want to know what the scriptures refer to, why not ask the Jews, as you are asking about their scripture?

---------------------
>(Micah 5:2)

Micah 5:2 doesn't say that the Messiah will be born in Bethlehem, rather is says that David (the beginning of the messianic line) WAS born in Bethlehem.
-------------------

>He said to Me "You are My Son, today I have begotten You.
>Ask of Me and I will make the nations your heritage, and the
> ends of the earth you possession" "(Psalm 2:1-8)

The Psalm was written by David. The "He said to ME" business was what G-d said to DAVID (not Jesus).
--------------------

>Everyone of Isaiah's 50 or so propechies about Christ
>has come true.

Isaiah made no prophecies about Jesus.
---------------------

>There are other prophets in the old testmanet whom have
>also made various prophecies about the coming divine Messiah.

Yes, but, unfortunately, Jesus didn't fulfill a single messianic prophecy.

First of all, we have to know what the "Jewish prophecies" are in regards to "messianic prophecies"

These are:

1. Descendant of David - (Jeremiah 23:5) (there are more regarding this one), note, must also be a descendant of Solomon (1 Chronicles 22:9), but can not be a descendant of Jeconiah (Jeremiah 22:30 This is established only through the biological father (for line/tribe) Numbers 36 (Tribal lineage), Genesis 49:10, 1 Kings, 11:4, 1 Chronicles 17:11-19 (Kingship lineage), Exodus 28:4, 29:9-30, 30:30, and 40:15 (Priesthood lineage)

2. Preceded by Elijah - Malachi 3:23-24

3. World Peace - Isaiah 2:4, Exekiel 39:9

4. Universal Knowledge of G-d - Isaiah 11:9, Jeremiah 31:33, Zechariah 8:23, 14:9, 14:16

5. Building of the Third Temple - Ezekiel 37:26-28 (See also Ezekiel 40-48, Isaiah 33:20)

6. Death Will Cease - Isaiah 25:8

7. Resurrection of the Dead - Isaiah 26:19, Daniel 12:2, Ezekiel 37:12-13

8. Ingathering of Israel - Isaiah 43:5-6 (See also Jeremiah 19:15, 23:3, Isaiah 11:12, Zechariah 10:6, Ezekiel 37:21-22)

9. The Nations Will Help the Jews Materially - Isaiah 60:5, 60:10-12, 61:6

10. Eternal Joy and Gladness Will Characterize the jewihs Nation - Isaiah 51:11

11. The Jews Will Be Sought For Spiritual Guidance - Zechariah 8:23

12. All Weapons Of War Will Be Destroyed - Ezekiel 39:9

13. The Enemy Dead Will Be Buried - Ezekiel 39:12

14. The Egyptian River Will Run Dry - Isaiah 11:15

15. Trees Will Yield New Fruit Monthly in Israel - Ezekiel 47:12

16. Each Tribe of Israel Will Receive It's Inheritance - Ezekiel 47:13-14

17. All Warfare Will Cease - Isaiah 2:4

To quote an online friend, "When we carefully consider that none of this has occurred, we can be assured that although many thousands of individuals have claimed to be the messiah throughout the centuries, Jesus included, none of them is. Moreover, when we ponder whether Jesus is the messiah, it is obvious that the very opposite occurred immediately after the Christian movement began; that is; During the first century the Romans slaughtered many thousands of Jews, the Jewish people were exiled from their land, the Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed, the knowledge of Torah and its observance decreaed throughout the Roman Empire. Clearly, there is no relationship between what the Hebrew Scriptures say about the messiah and what Christianity teaches about Jesus."

Also, we know that the messiah will be an actual king, ruling in Israel, and sitting on the actual throne in Jerusalem. And that there will be no dispute as to whether or not this Jewish male is the messiah or not. (Jeremiah 23:5-6, and Isaiah 42:1-4)

To sum this all up, Jesus didn't do the job, (nor was he qualified for the job in the first place), he wasn't the one.

Is it a question then of you want to believe but find it difficult because something in the scriptures doesn't line up with YOUR expectations? Is your real question then is G-d, G-d? And if He is, how could He be in three places? With respect then to your question, it is in Matthew the 22nd chapter verses 41-44 where Yeshua deals with the Pharisees and in effect quotes scripture (Psalm 110:1). Here essentially Jesus as G-d is co-equal with G-d. Let me make an aside. The majority of people in the world have difficult with spiritual things because they want to superimpose what they know and understand of the world upon that which is divine. Some go so far as to say "Who/What created G-d". Well, it doesn't work that way, much as people wish it did. That which is carnal (human) is carnal and that which is spirit is spirit. G-d has also said in His word that man's wisdom (logic) is foolishness to G-d and G-d's wisdom is foolishness were man is concerned. To put that in perspective, look at the movie CONTACT with Jodie Foster, where she thinks that it is a "waste of time or energy" for all of the solar systems to exist without life on them. Yet as I understand Him, here we go again, mans wisdom or G-d's foolishness, He would create all of that beauty just for the benefit of us His creation. I challenge you to get to know HIm by putting your faith and trust in Him and in HIs plan of salvation through His Son Jesus. It's really simple. Just pray to HIm L-rd I want to believe, help my unbelief.

"For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government will be upon His shoulder, and His name will be called,
Wonderful Counselor
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace."
And of the increase of His government and of peace there will be no end" (Isaiah 9:6,7)
"But you O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for Me one who is to be ruler in Israel,
whose origin is from of old, from ancient days" (Micah 5:2)
"Why do the nations conspire, and the people plot in vain?
The rulers of the earth plot together against the Lord and against His Anointed (Messiah, or Christ), saying let us burst their bands asunder, and cast their cords from us."
He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord has them in derision. The He will speak to them in His wrath, and terrify them in His fury, saying "I have set My King on Zion, My holy hill." I will tell of the decree of the Lord:
He said to Me "You are My Son, today I have begotten You. Ask of Me and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth you possession" "(Psalm 2:1-8)
"The LORD (YHWH) said to my(David's) Lord (Adonai),
"Sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet" " (Psalm110:1)

Jesus said "I am the Son of God" (John 10:33-36)
Mark 14:61,62: "Again the High Priest asked Him "Are you the Christ (Messiah), the Son of the Blessed ?" (the High Priest would only use this term of God) "And Jesus said "I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power(God), and coming with the clouds of heaven" " (see Daniel 7:13,14)
These are just a few - there are many more passages I could cite.
