Because God gave you breath. Thank God for each breath you take.

Elements are neither alive nor dead... they are simply elements.
Elements combine to form molecules. Molecules combine to form proteins, DNA, mytochondria, cell walls, cytoplasm, protoplasm and other such things. These are the things of life. This cell is "living" when it is "operational". It is performing the basic functions of a cell. It is supported with elements and molecules such as oxygen, glucose and such, which allow these living things to reproduce.
Something is "dead" when it was once living, and has ceased to be so. A cell can be dead, an atom cannot.

great question. that's the toughest question for atheists to answer. one might try to turn it around and say that dead matter cannot be dead if it can be found in life. but everything is made up of all the chemicals. does it have to mean that a god created life or could life have begun from the right combinations of dead materials, as you call them.? i don't know.

I would suggest you take a course in biochemistry to see how elements and compounds combine to form living organism. Living is a scientific term that has specific requirements.
By your question, it seems you are dead. At least, brain dead.

We live and move because these elements have no life force of their own. If we were dependent on them, we would really be dead, if that were possible.

They are not "dead" elements. They are elements, that when arranged in certain ways to form chemical compounds, become living matter.

That requires only a very simple answer, because God breathed life into those dead elements.
And isn't it amazing how God can take a dead nothing such as you and I and turn us into something great!

Precisely.
Haven't you heard of the word soul?
The egyptians called it ka, and it was supposed to be the immaterial double, or the energy that binded all inert material together and animated them.
People might start understanding this when they stop thinking that religiousness is spirituality.

That's cause they need to connect in order to form a system.
Chemistry and more chemistry, and then after several billion years...it's all very glorious and inspirational.

I think it's the interaction of these cells and the passage of mild electricity through our bodies that gives us movement and life. the stuff that makes us up may not be the most lively of substances, but when you combine it all, we call it life.
